is the head stud kit hahn sells arp?

gonna need new head studs when i install my bottom end anyways, might as well use good stuff since i eventually wanna run 18-20+ psi

Call ARD - the banner will display up top and down low if you refresh a coupla times. Click it, and get their number.

Apparently they found an ARP stud that is the perfect length for our head, it's just a tad longer than the ones people have used in the past... I don't have the part number handy.

And to answer your question above.....yes, the ones that Hahn sells are ARP.

Hey Ryan, I just ordered mine through ARD as well. If you might remember, Dave had issues with the length of the studs, and through working with ARD, he was able to get the correct longer size ordered.

I had to pay about $158 shipped for the studs. From what I understand, due to the longer size, they were a bit more expensive.

i dont recall reading about issues w/ stud size. which dave was this? link to post?

I can't remember where else he mentioned it, but apparently the head stud size listed on the main page can only grab a portion of the nut when torqued down and not the entire nut. It works, from what I gathered from Dino, but it's still a tad short. I figure if I'm going to pay a premium for head bolts, I might as well pay a little extra more to grab the whole nut. :-)

I think Dino's going to try and get the correct part numbers from ARD for future reference.

Ugh... I just got done ordering the ARP studs from HRC when I saw this post. Do I really need to cancel that order and place one with ARD or will I be ok with the ones I just ordered? Also, how much longer are the ones ARD sells?

The ones i am currently using are the part numbers from the main page. They are short enough that (with no machining done to the head) the nut grabs maybe four to five turns of the stud before it bottoms out. I think i'm like one turn away from the top of the stud being level with the top if the nut. We did recheck the torque spec after about two weeks, and all of them were 100% on spec.

ARD got in touch with ARP after Dave complained about the stud length, and found one that is a little bit longer, and turns out to be a perfect fit. I don't have the part numbers yet, Owen is going to email them to me..

So, since I have a milled head and using the stock headgasket, I'm assuming that I can just stay with the ones I ordered then...? Also, with the longer ones, do you know if you will be able to torque them down properly without removing the cams. That would suck to have to remove the cams to re-torque them all.

HRC may very well have the right ones. I don't know.

Yes,you can torque them down without removing the cams. You just need a 3" extension for your torque wrench..

I have my receipt in front of me and here's what I got, worked GREAT! I HIGHLY recommend the ARP head studs! I ordered from ARP direct. 1-800-826-3045.

Clean the block's threads thoroughly before installation. Use Moly Lube on EVERYTHING! Screw the studs into the block hand tight. Make sure they're screwed in completely and are all even at the top. Install the headgasket and head and tighten in proper sequence to 71 ft lbs. Loosen and re-torque 3 times. You're done!

If you plan on pushing lots of horsepower, I recommend 80 ft lbs of torque.

summit has them for 98$
and the main bolts kit for like 58$

I don't think the summit ones are correct. I called and talked to a guy who gave me a part number. I then cross-referenced that number with ARP and it's for the 4g63 NT.

yea, i questioned the same thing. i ordered some polyurethane engine mount inserts from summit and asked about the head stud kit, i got the 98 price, but he couldnt confirm which engine it was for. i just ordered em from ARD, better safe than sorry i guess

Just call ARP directly and order directly from them!! Cut the middle man out of grabbing your money!!! ARP are GREAT folks to deal with. I've ordered about 3 sets of head and bottom end studs and installed them.

I have ordered the parts listed in the 2gnt.com website section *every single time* and never have had **ANY** issues with them. Trust me, you wont have an issue with any studs being too short. I have never had them fail on me and i have *never* had a headgasket leak on me when i ran these.

I now have in my current engine head and main studs installed and they work great!!!!

i agree. i just finished reading this thread, and called ARP to buy some nice Hot Studs within 2 minutes of finishing the thread. they were pretty friendly and didn't keep me on hold for like 45 minutes or anything like that. thanks to dougie2 for conviently listing the part numbers. now i don't have to worry about my stockers tweaking if i ever decide to run 22 psi on race gas...

...maybe someday.
