Whazzup my brothas. Thought I'd come check out this board, I was referred by Shaun (don't know his user name on this board though). I ported through ca.dsm.org, and man I must say this board/site is da shit!! I've only been able to keep in touch with a couple of boosted Neon guys, but there seems to be a million boosted 2GNT guys here.

Anyway, my setup: Hahn Stage II, running stock internals and 5psi. Been boosting for over a month with no ill effects other than brutal gas mileage. Couple of nights ago my engine popped a code 64: catalytic converter efficiency failure, but has since reset. I'm sure that it's because I'm running rich that the code was set. I only have fuel pressure gauge (in engine bay) and boost gauge that came with kit. Soon planning on adding EGT, A/F, Oil pressure (electrical) and Oil Temp. I'm going to wait until after I install my Moroso Pan.

Question: I'm assuming that main problem running over 5psi boost on stock engine is fuel, not internals correct? I mean I'm sure the internals can handle 8psi of boost, but it's because duty cycle on stock injectors is maxxed right? I see a few are running 440-550cc injectors with SAFC, is anyone running Hahn's fuel upgrade kit for Stage III?

Sorry to stack so much on you guys at once, but it's a pleasure to have found such a valuable resource for boosted 420As. One last thing....

is it okay for a Neon boy to belong to this forum group? If not it's cool, I don't want to intrude, but we all have the same heart, just you guys got the hot bodies :-)

fuel is the major concern yes, the intenrals have proved themselves well beyond 5 psi.

theres a bunch of us avenger 420a guys here, so im sure they wont mind a neon or two ;)

also check out www.asog.net, the avenger board (altho this is the place to be for sheer numbers of boosted 420a's ;)

Welcome!

We're all here for the same thing... 420A performance...
Stock internals (IMO) can handle 10psi easy (i.e. 280hp crank).. Just make sure that you have enough fuel to get a good A/F ratio (I would also say run it a tad rich to not risk smoking your rings).

I highly reccomend against 110psi fuel on the stock injectors...

Get better injectors first.. Crucial tools for you to get the best tuning out of your car, would be an EGT, O2 sensor Voltage and a SAFC.. If you wanna Take it to the next level, I guess you can skip the SAFC... but you definitely need the other gauges to know what is going on..

Hey, it's good to see you made it over here. Yeah, I'm not creative enough for a fancy user name, so I just use my real name:) Of course it's cool for a Neon guy to use the board, we love all the 420a's. As far as the the fuel goes, to tuned the system I really would like to have a data logger so I know exactally what's going on with the car. I trust my EGT and AF gauges but with the AFC and other electronics I would prefer to have a little insight into the car. I've gone on a couple of tuning runs with some of the local DSM guys in their 1G's and the difference in there old settings and the settings after having the data logger are way different. I have no idea how good the data logging software is for our car but the TMO software for the 1G is great. With the data logger the guys are using it to tune the AFC for fuel trims and knock sum and there is no way to tune those things without the data logger. Also I'm hopping with the data logger I can get the ITC and tune that properly and it would also be good to keep an eye on the injector duty cycles.

Hell yeah your welcome as much as myself and others I catch moonlighting at the neon.org message board (including our administrator and asog members). We've had a few neons pass through and a few of us have neons or significant others with neons.

WOW!! Thanks for the warm welcome all. I won't say I'm surprised, but it's refreshing to see an open-minded bunch of car enthusiasts for once. I even find the discrimination gets a little harsh on the neons.org board sometimes. I mean it's cool to love your marque, but to dis everyone elses' ride?!...c'mon.

Anyway aside from the crazy fuel pressure the kit runs, what about stock fuel lines and fittings? I heard from someone on neons.org that the stock lines are only rated for 60psi. One guy even had his fuel line burst in the engine bay!!! Are many of you running braided lines to FPR, from schrader valve on fuel rail? I know this is one point of concern for Neon guys with stock injectors.

If there was an ideal street setup for the 420A what would it be approximately. 440cc injectors or 550cc? I plan on eventually upgrading the internals, but on stock internals running under 10psi, would the 550's be overkill, ie.rough on the streets? If it seems like I'm asking a bazillion questions, it's because I'm just not very well educated on the intracacies of fuel-enrichment techniques.

Basically what I'm saying is this: You guys with the Hahn kits, in your experience what setup would be ideal to run higher boost on the stock internals, say 8-9psi? I like Sean's suggestion bout the datalogger software and other gauge suggestions you have all given, my main concern is what size injectors, and use _______ to control them.

Thanks a ton, I think I've found my new home here with all you other boost fanatics!!

No, not between neons, although we like to razz each other about SOHC vs. DOHC power :-).

The main thing I notice, whether I'm on a honda board, neon board, etc. is that people blatantly slam other peoples rides. I always see the Neon guys layin sh*t to honda/acura owners, and then some V8 punks will visit the site and start something. So many times I've had v8 guys or Honda/Acura guys pull up next to my ride and start laughing or saying my car's a POS, cuz it's a Neon. I've even had stock Neon owners pull up and tell me my car sounds/looks like sh*t!! Sorta how Sleeper's busting your a$$ in another topic bout your bumper, which BTW I think looks like da sh*t!!! I wish Neons had some nice kits, but I'm really not to found of current offerings.

Even if I see a car that was done different to my tastes, I realize the hard work, $$$, and pride involved in others' rides. Basically, I respect any car enthusiast who has the passion and initiative to mod their ride.

Thanks for all the props guys, it's nice to have a good bunch of bros to back me up. This goes out to the Hahn guys, or any of you other boost heads, did you purchase FMIC as upgrade to Hahn kit or are you running other custom ICs? Also note on the FMIC, I know that the answer will be "depends", but how much of a pressure drop would one expect with FMIC compared to side-mount kit comes with? Would it be in 1-2psi range? Cuz I'm only running 5psi on my stock internals and fuel system...that would be quite a drop!! Man, you guys have some killer lookin rides!! The lines of the 2G DSMs are beautiful...all they ever need is a slam down and fat rims...look mint. I've kinda got body envy goin on :-)

Well we have a weight envy going on! I am running the A'PEXi fmic from Hahn, with what I assume are the GST/GSX pipes because the pipes honestly did not look like they were made for my car...

I dunno much about a pressure drop though. With the stock wastegate, I showed 7-1.7psi boost measured at the intake manifold, and so most people say that the wastegate is at 7psi anyway, so I guess the drop was too insignificant.

The main reason I got this intercooler was because it was so highly reccomended everywere on its efficiency.

Yippee welcome to the board. ^_^ Neons are pretty tight it's the closest thing to a 2GNT in Grant Turismo 2, then again the Avenger is pretty close too. I can burn rubber with my racing Neon because of that 420A power! :)
