dunno if this was the right forum but here goes anyway. i got the autometer ultra lite a/f guage and oil pressure guage. anybody know where to find the o2 sensor wire? i was told to follow it up from the exhaust mani d.p. and i did but it was with many other wires and not sure where it went. do u have to run the wires through the firewall? also i was gonna hook up the power/red wire to the ign. wire. anybody know exactly where that is located, i looked and was not positive which one it was. the black is easy, i know u gotta ground it. this is on a 99 gs 10th anni. ed.

the oil presure guage, theres a ground which is black then a red which im not sure what wire to hook it up to, any suggestions? the black and red wires are only like 6 inches long, what am i suposed to do with that? then i am totally clueless about the other part, i got the direction sheet that came with it, but i need to know exactly what to do. please help. went to a shop and they said it could take em 2-3 hours, i really dont wanna pay $60.00 an hour for 3 hours just to hok up 2 guages. thanks guys

oh yea and anybody have a wiring diagram for the 99 eclipse gs? the closest i can find in my chiltons manual is for 96-98 non turbo MFI talon. i think it should say talon/eclipse but it doesnt. i dunno the manual sucks. so wold mine be the same as that?

ok red and black is for lights as far as I can remember. These guages are not hard to hook up. Run them through the steering boot, just poke a hole through and squeeze the wires through. red and black is the lights I believe. The white and black is the one you have to worry about. Black is obviously ground. The white must go to a power source, like the ignition and the blue goes to the oil pressure sending unit. For A/F guage, look for the white wire coming from your ecu. I need to look this over tomorrow and I'll holla at you. But I'm sure this was how I connected it.

Here is the way I installed the Air/Fuel Gauge (this is just one of the three gauges, I also did EGT and Boost guage). Keep in mind that I am using the Lunar Series which is backlit. All gauges worked correctly.

Four Wires off of the Air/Fuel Gauge:

White (backlight wire)
Black (ground)
Violet (signal wire)
Red (switched power)

White Wire (backlight):
The white wire I hooked to the green wire with a white stripe on the rheostat (dimmer for dash gauges - tach, fuel, speedometer, temperature) - not the easiest to get to. Here is how I got to these wires - I took the bottom of the dash off and then unscrewed the two screws holding in the rheostat. I then unclipped the connector from the rheostat, removed the rheostat, and then passed the rheostat wires through the hole on the dash where the rheostat was to make necessary connections without being under the dash.

Red Wire (switched power):
The red wire I connected to the blue wire coming off of the cigarette lighter - if I remember correctly (I know it has a white clip to the cigarette lighter). I also probed the wire with the ignition turned to the on postition so I know it is 12 volts.

Black wire (ground):
Black is ground. Ground appropriately.

Violet wire (signal from 02 sensor):
Violet is hooked up to wire number 31 (black with a white stripe) on the upper connector of the Powertrain Control Module (the PCM is right in front of the fuse box with two wiring harnesses on the left side - an upper and lower connector).

I have a 96 Eclipse GS so your wires should be the same colors. Also my information is based off of the Wiring diagrams in the Mitsubishi motors electrial diagrams.

The wire of the 02 sensor is white with black stripe not black with white stripe.

Sorry, I just realized I made a few mistakes in my post thanks to Ang_eclipse.

The signal wire from the o2 sensor is white with a black strip and it is on pin 30 of the upper connector on the PCM not pin 31.

ok just hooked up the af guage. now when the car is at idle, it jumps around, started at stoich, bouncing a little then as it idled for a few it was bouncing from lean to stoich to rich, and kept doing this. now when i gave it gas it went all the way over to rich im guessing that is normal but i need someone to tell if it is or isnt. thank you. oh yea and now i cant get the stupid triple pillar pod mounted right, dont know how i did it last time, it just kinda fell in place. now i have a huge gap between my windshield and the pillar. any suggestions on how to mount that stupid thing? thanks alot guys

edit: took the car for a ride and when i was light on gas pedal, it jumped around from stoich to rich, when i got on it it went rich and when i let off the gas and just cruised it was all the way lean. this is jumping around like a madman, im thinking my connection to the o2 sensor wire was shitty. is this normal, please help!

It sounds as your gauge is working perfectly fine. Sorry about my confusing post with the errors in it - I was trying to recall it from memory as best I could.

When you first start the car and it is not fully warmed up it doesn't bounce back and forth as much. Mine stays exactly in the middle of stoich and begins to bounce from rich to lean as the car warms up. Once the car is fully warmed up you should see it mover from rich to lean from rich to lean repeatedly.

The air/fuel gauge is only good for seeing wide open air/fuel ratio. Take the car out for a test drive and floor it. If your fuel setup is correct, the gauge should remain in the green the whole time you are boosting. Another key item to look at is your pyrometer. Make sure your egts look good under boost (which they should if you aren't running overly rich - overly rich could actually increase egts).
