36431, bigger injector setup why not this way?
Posted by pn0ymahal, Dec-24-02 06:57 AM
im not sure if this has been asked but ill ask anyways.
why not say get like 515cc or 525cc like chris has not sure what size he has now, and use the 1 to 1 regulator ( like he does ) and lean it down with a afc? i know the more you lean with a afc the more timing advances etc etc. i know he will be using a aem stand alone is there anything bad about doing the samething but using a afc?
thanks

well you answered your question (know the more you lean with a afc the more timing advances etc etc. )

I guess if you are not runnig enough boost will not be worth while since you will have too much gas for like 10-15 psi will not burn all gas. Could not lean too much becuase will not make car run good.

I was thinking about doing it to once i get a stand alone system

From what I can tell, the general feeling is that using something like the S-AFC to lean things out makes the timing curve unsafe when you get into boost. So when does your turbo spool? 2500rpm? If you use the afc to lean anything below that, how can it hurt? You'll never boost below that rpm, so I don't think it would hurt.

I don't know what else to tell you about injectors that big. You'll have to figure out how much fuel your motor wants at that cut over point(2500rpm). 515s will flow somewhere around 125cc/min at 30psi with a 25% duty cycle - Is that still too much fuel? Will it bog the engine? Can our ECU handle a duty cycle that low at that rpm? I don't know.

You can run 525cc or 550cc with NO AFC.
just have to tune it right.
Chris's car does. He also is going to use the Greddy E-manage, not the AEM.
I am going to be running either 525cc or 550cc, with the S-FMU to do all of the hard work, and then use the afc for fine tuning.
I will not have any timing control, becuase I will be using the fmu to do the leaning, and NOT the afc. Also, Yes the stock ignition will burn off the fuel,
My car runs 42lb injectors, with the afc pretty much zeroed out, except for on hi throttle I have it richened a little.
No leaning at all needed by the afc.

Also, Armond's car is running like ....what is it....700 or 800 something cc injectors, with no MSD (stock ignition)
His car is running beter and stronger than it ever has. He thinks that all of his previous problems were due to the MSD>

Check his web site www.armond30.com read on his car, and he tells all the info there.

well ill see what happens with you guys. if you use the s-fmu with 525 or 550cc i want to know what happens just shot me a email. hmmm also fuel pressure at idle really does not matter how low it is right ? as long as it runs correct? i can get good fuel trims if i set static to 30-35psi, but my idle is so dame low so thats why i dont keep it so low for so long on 315cc injectors. if i remember right you got like 26psi idle and 35-37static for 440cc injecs?..
hmm cool
