I spun a bearing in cylinder #4 so I ordered some Clevite 77 bearings. After waiting for 2 weeks for them, I finally got them last Saturday. Just installed them tonight and as soon as I started my car another bearing spun. I can hear that annoying ticking again. This is my 2nd spun bearing in 3 weeks. What the fuck could be causing this? After the first spun bearing, I took extra care to install these and am 100% sure they were installed correctly. What's going on here?

Stupid question, but did you use lots of that graphite pre-lube stuff on the crank side of the bearing? Is the crank bent? Hmm.. maybe you should just superglue them to the block ;) j/k

I have a set of main bearings (clevite77, standard size, 96-99 motor) that MAY have been damaged while installing them in a different bedplate that doesn't fit right. They have tiny (thumbtack sized or smaller) discolorations in them on one edge where the crank pressed into them. But if you hold a straitedge to it, there's no dent or impression. They've never been in a running motor. I think they'll work but I decided to get new ones just in case.

I'll ship em to you tomorrow for $20 if you don't want to wait 2 weeks just to blow another set. My stock bearings are still in great shape too if you want those but they have 60k on them.

Is there a difference with the bearings for 95 and 96-99?

you got to check the clearence make sure its not out of round, the crank and you have to smoothe out the crank with very fine sandpaper see if there scarred if there scared too much you got to take the block out and have the crank cut having a spun rod bearing is a nightmare

Ur crank journals is scored, and if ur spinning bearings like that ur oil preasure gotta be low.

Only way to cure a spun bearing is to replace it.

The crank journals aren't very hard from the factory.

If i spin a bearing in my isuzu, it won't score the crank because it is so damn hard. which is kewl :-)

u need to pull motor have your crank turn down either 1 or 2 sizes then get the over sized /undersized set of bearings to match because the crank hournal is scored and or outa round froma spun bearing...

it shouldn't be that much to have it done while out but if u got the money throw some upgraded stuff in there cl 77 bearings are good though, make sure u have the main bearings checked for good journals too and have the machine shop help u on a proper way to lube the bearings before re installation and u should be good to go...

Yes. The 95's have two "bottom" halves. The oil journals are different. There's a little warning sheet in with my bearings that says the same thing. Search the archives for the different part numbers.
