Here's a little Background info:
1996 Eclipse GS
HRC Stage II (Side Mount Intercooler)


A couple of weeks after I installed my turbo kit, I took it to visit a friend about 100 miles away. I took him out for a test run and while boosting in 3rd gear the blow off valve literally blew off (probably because the heat from the engine and the long drive caused the clamps to loosen up). The bottom clamp just slid right off of the pipe (didn't do any damage to the BOV, didn't even loose a clamp or the silicone coupling - got lucky when you look at it). It did put a small pin dent in my hood though. HRC should have put a lip on the Intercooler piping to prevent the clamp from sliding off. Anyways, below I posted pictures of a fix for this problem. I made a stainless steel bracket that bolts to the top off the BOV and attaches to the ECU. It may not work for all cars but definitely for the 1996 Eclipse and up (I've see pictures where the cars less than year 1996 have shorter ECUs).

The other pictures posted below is my setup for the Vacuum lines. I replaced the EVAP hard plastic line with a rubber vacuum hose. I also attached the nylon line for the boost gauge using a brass union instead of HRC's way of compressing the brass compression fitting and then sticking the nylon tube into a rubber hose (the compressed fitting is supposed to keep the nylon tube from coming out of the vacuum hose under boost). HRC's design didn't seem to be very well thought out and the brass union definitely is more reliable - won't allow a boost spike. My design works nicely since the boost guage already comes with a compression fitting on one side and NPT threads on the other. Here's a quick diagram (sizes are approximate, I don't remember the exact sizes I used):


1/4" Hose Barb to 1/4" Male NPT --> 1/4" Female NPT Union --> 1/4" Male Compression Fitting (supplied with Autometer Boost Gauge)

one thing you didn't think of. The upper intercooler pipes moves around alot because it is connected to you TB. You should put a rubber mount for one of your bracket mounting screws or i guarantee that the bracket will fracture eventually.

Jamesman, that's a good idea. I believe I have a rubber grommet from my old iceman intake that I could place in the mounting hole that attaches to the BOV. That will allow some slight movement of the pipe. I will try it some time this week. When I made the bracket, the hole that attaches the bracket to the BOV is oversized to allow for some movement. In the third picture, you could see that I placed a washer on top and bottom of the bracket because of the oversizing.

ya that sounds good, or you know what would also help, that top nut, if yu could find a nylock nut and not screw it tight, then the bracket will just kind of float above the bov and hold it in place without having to make any major contact.
