35901, ANOTHER spark plug question!!! Posted by RoboTechDSM, Dec-13-02 05:12 AM
Would bad plugs help contribute to higher EGT's?? I mean, if it's not firing properly, then maybe it's not igniting ALL, or most, of the a\f mixture in the combustion chamber. Thanks!!!!

Well not really. If the mixture wasnt igniting properly or completely, then the EGT's would go down, as unburned fuel cools down exaust temps. Still having high EGT problems?? What exactly is going on? What are your temps?

STILL getting high EGT's, even with the 1G SMIC on. I got a CEL, lean bank 1 code or some shit like that, according to the datalogger. I believe that code might have something to do with the MAP sensor too. Me and Fast420A are almost sure that it's the HRC FCD acting up. We have not gotten the chance to check the proper voltage yet, work = 6 days a week. My fuel pressure is rich for my given boost level, but from what I understand, EGT's climb much faster when you are running lean. Also, according to the datalogger, my injectors are maxed out to like +25%. Our guess for that one is that the ECU is thinking there's a lean condition (due to the CEL), even my fuel pressure is high enough, and maxing out the injectors to help compensate.

What are your o2 voltages under WOT? What is your fuel pressure at WOT for what boost pressure? You really need to check the map voltage with the car off, but key turned on. Should be around 4.5 volts. What fuel trim #'s were at +25%? Short term or long term? +25% means that the ecu is trying to richen up the fuel mixture at its maximum. For it to be doing that, the map should be working properly, as that is the main source of that info to the ECU. Could be dirty or clogged injectors, a pinched fuel feed line? Where is your fuel pressure gauge located/tapped into? I would first check the FCD and map for voltage. Just seems more like a fuel delivery related issue...

At WOT, my O2 voltage is around .93-.95 give or take. I can't remember for sure if it was long term or short term, I'm about 60% sure it was long term. The FP gauge is tapped directly onto the SFMU. I checked to see if there's any kink on the hoses around the SFMU, NONE. I haven't look under the car yet though..............

Oh yeah, my FP gauge was reading 100-110 psi give or take.
