35828, How crucial is it to gap plugs properly?!?!? Posted by RoboTechDSM, Dec-11-02 04:14 PM
I know gapping it too wide or narrow is bad, but what if the difference of gap is subtle. The reason I'm asking is that I used the NGK 7e-11's that was pre-gapped already. I know it wasn't the same gap as the one Hahn stated in the manual. The car is doing ok, just wanted to know if there'd be a difference if I gap it to Hahn's specs. tHANKS!!!!

The 7e-11's come pre-gapped to .044, which is stock, but you'll want to confirm it with a gauge because if it's not gapped correctly, you'l probably experience misfires and hesitation during acceleration. Since you are turbo'd you might want to close the gap to .030-.032"

did you guys read his post? he said his car is running fine with the pregaped plugs. Why would he need to close the gap if his present gap is not resulting in misfires?

The plugs do come pregapped, but sometimes, the pre-gap isn't accurate. Plus, if you're boosting, .044 is too wide of a gap for the best ignition.
