Poll question: GReddy or APEXi TT?

im just deciding between these two. pros and cons. how intsallation for the two, etc. TIA

i have the greddy. it's neat. don't know too much about the apexi one, but i hear it looks really simple and less blingin than most other turbo timers. here's where i installed mine...

I've got mine on the steering colum behind the wheel. I have the Apexi in mine and that's what I would reccomend. I don't know the options on the greddy but I have A/F ratio and O2 voltage, as well as a volt meter and the timer itself all in one unit.

It pretty much comes down to what you want. The GReddy turbo timer is only a turbo timer with the battery voltage. In contrast, the A'pexi turbo timer is a a turbo timer, holds battery voltage, 02 sensor voltage, and calculates the air/fuel ratio based on the two 02 sensors. The A'pexi is also very small. Look at RRE's link for the A'pexi, and you can see how small it is. I have the A'pexi, and I am very happy with it. I mounted it below the center air vents. I'll post pics of it sometime later this week after my last set of college finals ever! I got it mainly because I didn't want to buy an air/fuel monitor gauge by itself. Installation is simple for the GReddy. Just plug in the harness, and you are done. With the A'pexi, it is a different story. Since it has an 02 sensor reading, you have to tap into the ECU for the 02 voltage (just like any air/fuel gauge).

RRE says it comes with a harness, wuld i still have to tap the ECU for the 02 voltage reading?

i believe karl means the 1st o2 sensor, that would be a 'cool' little unit if it can see both .. i think i might break that tt of his...hehe

Jimmy has the APex unit, and he only has to tap the line for O2. I'm assuming the A/F reading is based off of a correlation map from the upstream 02 and not down stream. could be wrong though.

Opps, I mistyped my sentence regarding the 02 sensor voltage. Mike is correct...I meant to type upstream 02 sensor NOT two 02 sensors. My mistake...thanks for catching it. The A'pexi calculates the A/F ratio based on the 02 sensor, but just like any 02 voltage reading, it is not a stable reading due to conditions such as exhaust temperature.

AHHH I see, I was thinking of getting a new one, the blitz one i have is getting rather dated, i was looking at the apexi, but i have to find a cool place to put it, maybe in the headliner heheheheh like everything else in my car!

The apexi is a cool little unit man it does all the work in one unit, and it's really easy to use and install. If it comes with a harness then just get the one for the 2g turbo cars and then all you have to do is run the brake wire and the o2 wire.
