turbomex1 can i get a catback exhaust system for my non turbo 97 RS if i plan on going turbo in the future please help thanx

turbomex1 update!! hey guys im serious i really need a honest answer you see im new to this turbo seen well basicly im seriously planning on turbo-ing my 1997 RS in the future so i need the info to help me out a lil even if it means being a rice-boy for a while. ps i was wondering if its safe to use some lowering springs about 2 inches on stock coils do i need to damper if im using my stock rims!!! thanx

Go for it. When i was still NA i was running a 2.5 inch high flow cat attached to 2.5 inch cat back, on a Nakayama muffler. Sounded really low and loud, but calmed down after i put some turbine blades in there :-)

I didn't notice much in the way of low end loss, even with the reduced back pressure. it cost me about $120 at a local muffler shop for them to weld in the cat and cat back. I just let them use the regular 2.5" stock they had, and press-bend it to fit. They did a fairly good job.

Heres what I would do if i could do it all over again. Don't waste the money on a cat-back for n/a right now. I'd buy a gst exhaust from a friend or salvage yard. Once you go turbo that exhaust will be efficent for awhile then later to reap all the benefits of the turbo spend the money originally on a 3" exhaust. I am saving up for a 3" cat-back now. I have a GReddy power extreme 2.5" exhaust and i truly believe it's not performing as well if i had a bigger exhaust with less restictive piping. Guys do I have the right thinking on this?

If you can afford a cat-back exhaust, get straight to the point... Get a 3" cat-back. I ran my 3" cat-back to Apexi N1 muffler in NA mode for 5 months... I got 0.3 of a second faster in the 1/4 mile too! Don't worry about back-pressure, our cat takes care of that.

Is it true that the stock GS-T cat-back is the same as the GS/RS except for the muffler. Cause I'm going to get a GS-T muffler until I can afford a full Cat-back.
