35499, HRC Turbo thread for Things We've Seen Before
Posted by Mystic511, Dec-04-02 06:53 AM
Hey guys, i'd like to start a thread for the "things to buy with your turbo kit section" on things we've seen before.

I'm still not sure as to all the things to buy, but i'll get the ball rolling.

For fuel system:
Vortech S-FMU
Missing Link

Gauges:
DIGITAL air/fuel gauge to check up ratio.
EGT gauge.
Fuel Pressure Gauge?

Other:
4g63 studs and nuts for exhaust manifold and other problematic hrc bolts that are supplied (though i think this has changed with newer kits)
Stainless Steel lines to replace rubber lines?

Anything else? Please, add to this list. I'm sure every future HRC owner will appreciate it!

Thread on problems with HRC kit (with input from bill hahn himself): http://forums.2gnt.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=read_count&om=4796&forum=DCForumID16

Here is a list with links to what I bought for my turbo kit. Some are not necessary to install the kit and can be purchased later. I purchased everything before installing to try and limit any or all problems.

Other Items Purchased Since Install Not on List:

-Walbro 255 lph HP pump with kit (Pump #GSS342)
$115 with free shipping (www.lightningmotorsports.com)
-Magnecor 8.5mm spark plug wires (www.ptuning.com) $60.00 use coupon code pt2gnt (good if you have more than 50,000 miles on your car - smoothes out idle noticeably)
-Custom Stainless Steel BOV bracket (mounts to top of BOV and attaches to a screw on the Powertrain Control Module (ECU) - I have actually blown the BOV right off the pipe - I will be posting pictures of this soon)

Also,

I have changed the disk in the SFMU from 2.72 to 3.62 for more fuel just to be safe. I want to see if this puts me in the rich zone under WOT (checked plugs recently and they look a little lean). Here is a link explaining my current situation (I may have to bleed off a little bit of fuel pressure under boost)

P.S. You don't live too far from me....I saw you are from Philadelphia. I am from New Jersey.

Hope this helps,
