I've been kinda running around lately guys, sorry if I haven't replied to e-mails lately. I'll get to them tomorrow morning!

On another note. I went to dyno spot racings shop in Mountainview Califonia (http://www.dynospotracing.com) and got some tuning on the old eclipse.
I was pretty happy with the results other than my car having WAY to much timing in the 6500+ range and it causing some detonation. Doesn't really matter though since my peak power is down around 5k. I'm going to work on this problem though. I might just have to go full PMS :P
I put in the 440cc injecotors and let them go at it. When I got there we did a 4psi run and made 157hp and 163lbs of torque (car was running EXTREMLY RICH because of 440cc) I didn't even bother tuning it at the boost. I wanted to hit at least 15psi but the profec 'A' was having some problems (getting rid of this piece of crap, anyone want one :P). For some reason it would only get to about 12psi (.8bars) no matter how many times I programmed it or turned up the boost.
So, here are the figures I got running about 12psi of boost. i'm running it now and the car FLYS!
It sucks, I still have a lot of room to lean it down, about 30% across the board (S-AFC)

I was actually scrared driving it home in the rain :)

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOW, 267hp with only 12psi (well 12psi is almost nothing if you are running lower comression pistons)

Wyatt, man that's great news, man I what would you putting out after your port the head and intake manifold, maybe some turbo cams, along with either ITC to retard the timing at higher RPMS or even MSD. oh what if you were to run like 20+ psi, man I don't even wanna race you anymore :)

good job bro

hey I know you will need some slicks to put these kindda power down to the ground, how about some Nittos 555 drags, I will sell you mine if you want to :)

ah I am also happy since I went to the track 2 days ago and got 13.4@ 1.6 mph with a shitty ass 2.28 60ft that puts me into either the 2nd or 3rd fastest 2G FWD 4G63 powered AT :) (wyatt you know what I am talking about right, yeah that yellow GS-T tiy saw my girl driving the other day :) ) man I hate being FWD, man at only 18psi and being AT, I was spinning the hell out of those Nittos 555 drags till almost 3rd gear, I guess it's time to get some real slicks, any of you guys wanna by my nittos drags mounted on 16" wheels (225/50/16) ?

Wyatt I how you feel about your Profic A, man I have the same thing on my GS-T, and guess what, I ended up leaving it alone and getting ball and spring MBC (not a very good idea with a FWD tho, but I still got a better ET and MPH with it, my 60ft went down a bit with the MBC. so anyone wanna buy a profic A to :)

good job Wyatt.

Sweet Wyatt, Damn 268 HP!!! I can't wait until I do my internals, so I could boost that:-)

What kind of cluch do you have? I'm about to look for one, so what do you suggest for 5-10psi??

Holy shit man! You are really putting some power down! I can't wait until you start boosting around 16psi. You have to get some slicks or drag radials so you can get some good times out of that power. You need to get that beast to a track! I also want to see some more movies of your car man, those are sweet! Sorry, just blabbing on about how sick your car is :-) !

I was looking into using a piggy back fuel/ignition computer for a while now. As for the J&S knock alert ignition computer: it will retard timing as necessary when knock occurs! However it does not allow you to tune your ignition timing.
Therefore, i might just get the SuperITC from Apex which allows RPM specific ignition tuning +/-15% (kinda like the AFC)..

BTW: How much were you guys asking for the Profec-A ???
Also can anyone get a good deal on the Apex Super-AFC ?

Later!

I believe Shaun Frank is selling them for under $300. Visit www.newedgeracing.com. Also Martin, I sent you an email a few weeks ago and never got a response. Wondering if it got through, or you just didnt see it.

I can't help but compare. Chris was at 164 at two more psi BUT ONLY 12PSI and 168HP AT THE WHEELS! Words can't describe it. Chris also has an MSD. AND on top of that you still have to lean it THIRTY PERCENT. I think you're knocking on the door of 300 at a measily 15psi(?!!). Damn those BB turbos:)LOL!!

Damnitt Chris and Wyatt, I'm so jealous!!

I beleive it is a BB turbo, cause I seen his T/3-T/4 on Ebay for sell several weeks ago. :)

What I would like to know Wyatt, is what were or are your S-AFC settings, and your FPR settings set at with the 440's?

here we go.
Actaully, I still have the t04E in. I did sell my other t04E but the BB turbo hasn't arrived yet so i was forced to put in another turbo.
I have the Vortech S-FMU but don't have it installed yet. So I'm still running hte 12:1 FMU.
I've got the MSD DIS 2 ignition, I'm going to put that in the next couple of days to pull some timing back.
I would caution everyone running turbo, HRC, Star, custom setup. It doesn't really matter what your running, in stock form I think our cars run some crazy timing up top to get power and then when we go and turbocharge them, we have to much timing. Its a funny feeling to actually not be able to "floor" the pedal anymore. If I did I don't think I would go anywhere, just make a lot of smoke :)

My next plan of attack is to run s-FMU at about 75psi of FP @ max boost and lower my idle FP down to about 35-40psi. I'm going to run this setup for this season and get the Haltech put in over the winter.

Hopefully I'll get the BB turbo soon and we will see what kind of improvements we have made since then.

BTW, I noticed on the dyno chart that the to HP figures don't line up very well. torque and HP should always be the same at 5252rpms. The lower Hp & Torque figures needs to be moved to the right for an accurate comparison.

Hey Wyatt, once you have the SFMU hooked, could you tell me what you used and how you did it? Remeber, the SFMU has -6 fittings on it which makes quite hard to adapt to our 1/4" lines... ARGH

Also, how did you determine that the timing was being advanced (resulting in detonation)?

me worry now..
good thing I haven't been driving like Wyatt the madman...hehehe

It was the technician that pointed it out to me. It was along the lines of making less power and the EGT temps rising quickly above 6500rpms no matter how much fuel we added.
They were really cool at the shop, and they know their stuff, too. THe guy working on my car was a HondUH nut but really nice. He had a 1800lb integra all motor that runs 11.90s!
it was pretty sweet.

Other than going to a dyno, is there another way to determine the IDEAL timing curve?

Looking over these Dyno figures I am left with one thought.
What is the HP @ wheels for 12psi w/ stock bottom ??
Because what Wyatt showed us looks very promising as for power
output!

later!

Wyatt, I know you have AEM cam gears.. you could retard your timing a little using those for now until you get the MSD hooked up. I have both and I still get a little detonation at top end. I used Trick high octane racing fuel at the dyno at 17.2 psi. I still haven't scanned my slip yet. But as soon as I do.. you'll be pleased with the figures.
3546, it should be higher...
Posted by Skrilla, Apr-09-01 03:01 PM
...because the stock bottom has higher compression. Stock 9.6:1 compared to Wyatt's 9:1

Skrilla.. I guess you don't know what I have in my car. When I picked up the turbo kit from Thomas Kim (prototype) he had custom JE 8.5:1 compression pistons sitting on the shelf in his garage. I took that off his hands for only 300.00. So I have much lowre compression that Wyatt. Funny you don't know by now what I've done as far as engine work. To list the basics, I have a Star II with an apex'i fmic with 450cc injectors, afc, msd dis-2, southland full ceramic standard clutch, fully built bottom end including a knife edged crank and a pretty good top end with crower regrinds, port and polish head with a 3 angle valve job (done along time ago or I would have gotten the five angle swirl) port matched intake maifold, bored tb and port matched to the plenum, mbc, and all the goodies as far as bolt on's and shit like that. If I didn't spend so much on show I would have gutted it and turned it into a track car. I'm itchin to get the Accel DFI unit and put some huge injectors to see if I could surpass HRC with my star system.. but..... (fill in the blank) but anyway, I had a turbo in my 420A even before HRC put thier add in the magazine. (early '98)

Chris's car is actually a LOT mroe powerful than his chart leads on. that power number was given right before his clutch went south....and that wasn't even his max boost. Hopefully he can get some good dyno time in to see what it can really do......

Bring it on............
