34610, stage 2 fuel system changes Posted by spicyMitsu, Nov-18-02 04:51 PM
can someone please explain to me why i dont need to make any changes to my fuel system when upgrading from stage 1 to stage 2 (star)? i dont understand why the increased boost (i plan on 8psi) doesnt need more fuel to run a proper air fuel ratio. i cant imagine that i only need a boost controller and an intercooler (w/ piping and couplers also) to run 8psi safely. i did lots of research and i just cant get it through my head. i would apreciate your help. thanks.

I am not familiar with the star setup cuz me and my girl both have the hrc setup. I cant imagine that it is too different. Your stage 1 kit should have provided you with all the fuel delivery parts you need to run a simple setup (under 12lbs). I am guessing that you have both a Fuel Pressure Regulator and a Fuel Pump and between the two, they should be capable of increasing fuel depending on the boost (which is why you have a signal hose going to the FPR). I may be totally wrong but I did install the hrc on my car(stageII)and my girls car (stageI).

The reason that your fuel system will be just fine is because you have a regulator that increases fuel pressure based on vacuum/boost. When you add 3 pounds of boost, the regulator will add 3 * the ratio of your rise rate.
