stock 2g manual gst versus auto 2gnt with hrc stage 1 with 3 inch exhaust. both drivers equally skilled.
btw how much are both cars making at the wheels?
hrc stage 1=5 psi, the stock gst is making 11 psi right?

if you read the HRC website it beats the GST by .2 i think.. we have higher compression then they do which gives us more HP Im may be mistaken for the stage 2, but our engines respond better to boost then the 4g63 engines

why are do our engines respond to boost better than the 4g63? I thought the engine was supposed to be "the god of all 4 bangers" :rolleyes

It's not that our engines respond better to boost, but rather, the higher compression engine yields more horsepower from the stage 1 turbo kit. Once you get passed this point, you can't beat the 4G63 in engine durability.

Both cars stick, and FWD, the 2gnt with stage 1 kit will come out on top by very little, assuming equal drivers, and proper engine/turbo tuning. Yes, our slightly higher compression ratio helps somewhat, but our S16G turbo flows more CFM's (airflow) per pound of boost than the 4g63's T-25 turbo, which makes the biggest difference between the 2 cars. The race would be close, but the S16g car should come out on top, assuming all of the above provisions are equal( most of the time thats not even likely).

Would a Stage 2 HRC with a SMIC beat a stock GS-T ?

yes it def. should. especially if tuned right. others on this site know alot more than me but hrc stage 2 vs. stock gst is a no brainer if tuned right.:thumbsup

what im wondering is this, all the guys I know with GSTs were able to spin the tires in first, from a roll, when they were stock, but the one turbo 2GNT that i drove/rode in didnt so what Im thinking is wouldnt that mean that the GST has more power or is it just abnormal for a 2GNT-T to not spin its tires (was only 6psi though) in first??

Im running HRC Stage1 @ 5psi and I am not as quick as my friend Jarrad who has a GST. I am tuned a tad rich, but everything is in check. 95psi fuel pressure at 5psi.
Once I took off the line and he didnt, then he floored it anf he reeled me in prety quick and passed me in mid second gear and kept pulling. He's got an intake and exhaust, while Im running stock exhaust and shitty hrc d/p...
Just a note to show that Stage1 @ 5psi w/stock exhaust isn't as fast as a GST...either that, or his simple intake and exhaust mods must be a huge improvement.
EDIT: Typo

you gotta get larger piping...it'll spool faster.

The T-25 on the stock GS-T spools up pretty quick (around 2500rpm), that's probably why that guy is spinning his tires in 1st and 2nd. Also, with just an intake and exhaust upgrade, the GS-T makes pretty good hp gains.

Wwhen I was stage 2 I ran a 14.3. I blew away any GST that didnt have a different turbo on it. My freind had a FMIC, exhaust, boost controller, intercooler piping and I could still beat him with my stage 2 at 8 psi.

I'm with Dave on this one. I was never stage 1, so I dont know about that, but with a HRD stage 2 with the SMIC, I beat every gs-t I raced that didn't have a larger turbo on it. Also, another reason that our cars are more responsive to boost is because of our head. Our head flows TONS more than the 4g63 heads. I am on 8.5:1 comp pistons now and boosting at 7-8 psi temporarily and I still pull away from stock gs-t's.

Like Matt mentioned, the 420A head is supposed to outflow the stock 4G63 head, eventhough the 420A exhaust manifold ports "look" smaller.

I don't know what 2GNT-T you drove, but I can spin through 3rd gear... even from a roll. :thumbsup

lol, how much boost do you run daily though?? I bet it isnt 6psi now is it? Can any of you guys spin your tires in first from a roll at stage 2 boost levels?

I can loose all traction if i floor it through all of first, and second gear. I have no problem at about 7 -8 psi with loosing traction, esp in first gear. I can easily spin in first with 7 to 8 psi. A quick shift to second, with the gas pedal down, and i can spin through some of second.. The kind of tires/suspension setup can also play a part with traction issues.

From a 40mph roll in second gear, as soon as boost comes on after I mash the throttle my tires break loose and my rpms shoot up to the rev limiter than it catches traction and pulls from 6K-7K. Shift into third and it spins for just a quick second and just puts you back into the seat...

Your kidding me right? I just did it this week passing in stop in go traffic, and my car started walking me back to the lane I just got out of!! (8 lbs of boost).
