33740, ease of AFC installation...

i finally got my AFC in the mail this weekend when i was home from college to work on my car. ALL of the inscructions were in japanese, so i had to poke around google for a little while to find someone who had written up a page about installing the thing. it was a PITA to solder all of the connections to the computer, but in the end the thing works fine. i ended up taking a knife to my steering wheel linkage rubber boot thigny and making a big hole for the AFC wire bundle. for once, a mod actually worked right the first time i tried it. it looks cool as f.c.u.k. with all of the digital readouts and stuff. gauges and stuff, all of the features are really neat. too bad i don't really have that much of a use for it right now with stock injectors, but over the winter i'll probably get 440's and a S-FMU (i know for stage 2 i don't really need it, but it's nice to have so i can turn up the boost as soon as i get forged internals. which disk do you use again for that? the 8:1 disk? i can't remember...)

i'll probably have the 1g smic hooked up pretty soon too, i'm going to mount it tomorrow and hopefully get custom piping made-up this week. that way i can turn the boost up with my new MBC to about 8 psi, which i feel is somewhat safe for stock injectors and internal components.

i really need to get some dyno time to tune the AFC, but then again maybe there's no point if i'm going to get a S-FMU and larger injectors soon. whatever, it's still fun to play around with. methinks i need to get a digital a/f gauge too, so i can do some real tuning. need to get an aqua/blueish colored one to match my interior :P

i've also heard discussion about the "blue wire mod" for the S-AFC, and was wondering what that was about. anyways, sorry for the long post. i'm done now.

You could have gotten all the info you needed right here on 2gnt....

Blue wire mod = ability to read A/F with the super afc....but.....does it really work? I tried it and it seemed to work, but in light of some warnings from people I disconnected it. I would rather not fry my AFC.

Also be carful when tuning with the afc...I blew my first engine due to improper tuning of the afc....I was @ 5-6 psi at the time.
You really need an digital a/f and a egt gauge.
