33098, Update on turbo woes.... Posted by dudasd, Oct-21-02 12:07 AM
OK, here is the latest and greatest. Went to the track yesterday and decided to just see what she would do even under the part throttle conditions I was limited to because of the fuel cut problem. On the first run I babied it thinking that things would be the same as they have been for the last 2 days. Results were as follows: 60' 2.553 330' 6.693 1/8 ET 10.115 1/8 MPH 73.01 1/4 ET 15.411 1/4 MPH 90.38
On the second run I kinda got sidetracked and just stayed in it when I shifted to 2nd and she didn't cut, hesitate or anything else so I just stayed in it. The rest of the runs the same way. So I'm guessing that for some reason she decided to be happy and start working out of the blue. Only thing now is that I think I need to look at exhaust or something for the boost issue. It'll creep up to about 7 PSI for a second or 2 but then settle in at 5 PSI and stay rock solid there. Not sure if they did put the wrong spring in mine or if I have major issues(ie Cat has 111K on it and is probably clogged as hell but I didn't punch it because the HRC manual said that is a no no) Anyone punch theirs and have any adverse effects? Rest of the exhaust is a Paceshitter cat back so I think that is big enough for only 9 PSI right? Anyways, my best run of the day at 5 PSI is as follows:
60' 2.411 330' 6.497 1/8 ET 9.864 1/8 MPH 74.00 1/4 ET 15.117 1/4 MPH 92.82
Do those times look about right for 5 PSI and such a shitty 60' time? Know if I could have gotten her off the line better I would have been in the 14's but this was a learning experience now that I have all the extra power. TIA on the rest of the questions.

Your numbers are looking pretty good. You get that 60' down to a 2.2 and you are probably looking at 14.7-14.8 at around 92-94mph.....which would put you right where you are supposed to be :)

Yeah I got a lil help for those 60' times today. Ones if the guys that works at a shop here in town let me have a set of slicks(only 2 runs on them) and the rims for $200. They're M/T on 15 rims so I guess it was a pretty good deal...

On another note, does anyone have the part number for the Accel 30# injectors we can use? I tried to look them up on Summit but they come in sets of 8 there. Can they be bought seperately???

yes, they can be bought individually. you cant find em by looking under any section on their site, and even if you call them, the guy i talked to said they couldnt sell em by the piece. so, i emailed customer service, and they pretty much said whoever i talked to was an idiot and they do sell em individually. i dont remember the part # exactly, but i believe the 8-pack part # is something like ACC-1050830, and you replace the (8) with a (1) in the part number, and the individual injectors will then show up.

Kewl, thanks for the info. I might just find someone to go half with me on them since they aren;t that much for 8. I'll look it up with the 1 though also....
