32985, Got fuel fixed but getting fuel cut now..... Posted by dudasd, Oct-18-02 11:48 AM
Ok, we re-did the connections for the inline pump and now I can get as much fuel as I need. Under WOT she stays green and happy on the A/F gauge and everything, but for some reason when it hits right around 5PSI it starts to fuel cut I think, the car starts to buck on me and not want to boost any higher. What could be the cause of this now? The boost feels good right up to the 5PSI mark and then I feel like I'm on a damn bucking bronco. TIA!!!!

What's your current turbo and fuel setup?

Check the FCD connections.

OK, first off I took the FCD off and put my missing link on. That is when I got the first fuel cut problem. Then figuring it was worth a shot I turned the Missing Link 180 degrees(not like it makes a difference) and it still did the same thing, so then we pulled the FCD back out and soldered it back onto he lines so that now I have both the FCD and Missing Link and the same thing is still happening. :( Does anyone thing that maybe I might have a bad MAP sensor to begin with? When it hits it's like a brick wall, the car bucks and loses all power until I back off the throttle....this is killing me, I'm so close to enjoying my boost and now this....
It does pull like crazy though in 1st, if I start off then get on it, it will break the tires free until I hit that damn fuel cut or whatever it is..........
Oh and I have a HRC Stgae 2 w/SMIC.....
By all means, if anyone wants to give me a call hit me up at 888-234-1097 to give a hand.
TIA

I would say try removing the missing link and try just the FCD again and see what happens. Make sure the connections are perfect, when I installed Robotech's turbo kit we thought we had a good connection and it was fine for a few test runs and then came loose and we got the fuel cut but because of all the times I had seen the problem on the board here, I knew exactly what to do. It was kinda funny after 4 long days of install and about 40 hours of work.

Thx, I'll break them loose and re-solder them on again and see if that helps out. Just wondering why the Missing Link didn't work like ti was supposed to though. Is it possible that the MAP sensor was bad to begin with and I might have to replace that????

I would replace the Map. That can be the cause of all your probs most likely. If the missing link and the vc2 were both on there, and you still got fuel cut, then there really is no way for the map voltage to go over 4.5- 4.7 to get fuel cut. Its def worth a look anyway..

i say be a man and buy a 95 so you don't need that electronic crap to run a turbo :P
map sensor is like 100 bucks. so its kinda spendy if your not sure thats the problem

Would be nice to not have to worry about the electronics but hey, it's all fun...LOL I'm gonna try and hit the boneyard down the road I think and grab a used MAP sensor real quick just to see if it works out, and if it does then all will be well. If not then I'll scrape up a new one. Can you guys think of anything else I might be over looking? I'm kinda at a loss right now to figure it out. TIA
