32845, question about tapping into the fuel rail..help!
Posted by rfpunch, Oct-16-02 07:59 AM
i figured i would post this here since the turbo guys have to do this. when we did my turbo install a while back, corbin did most of the fuel stuff..the shop said that i need the schrader valve that goes into the fuel rail where he tapped for the sfmu. does anyone know what size this valve is and where i can get one?? thanks

Check out the dealer like I mentioned on the phone. If they want you to buy the whole rail, check out a junkyard. And, if you really get in a pinch...buy a tire air valve from an auto parts store (they seal may not hold up to gas for long). There is a little "tire air valve" tool that installs/removes those things easily. I guess your shop will have one. If not, any auto store will sell them.

Maybe I missed something, but why do you need a Schraeder valve? I removed mine in both of my fuel rails to run a return line back to the fuel tank.

Hence, to "tap" the fuel rail, you remove the valve, you don't replace it, or add one. However, I may be totally missing something, so please feel free to correct me.

well there is a cap that goes on top of the rail that "may" do the job if you still have it. If not I may have a spare laying around, but it would make no sence to ship it. You can pick up a schrader valve at any auto parts store though. Or hit a yard and take a valve puller with you.

I had to do the same thing as you when i sold my wet nitrous kit. the dealer will sell ya a whole fuel rail, but not just that valve, and i never could find one to fit it. i just got a brass flare fitting, put teflon tape on it, and screwed it onto the threads. no problems for over a year now.
