32083, WG vac question
Posted by Erik, Oct-01-02 03:56 PM
I'm getting tired of the melting vac line from my WG to my turbo. What would happen if I routed the line to the intake vac instead of the turbo? I realize that there are pro's and con's but I'm all ears.

Are you melting silicon line? I've had very good luck with silicon line. Never had any problems with melting or cracking.

I see, well, sorta. You said in that post that it is just simpler to run a line from the WG to the intake. I figured that the pressures would all be even and that your boost gauge would read exactly what's in the intake. I have a 1g SMIC but I doubt I lose more than 1 psi of drop. I see 3-4 psi at WOT. I don't mind the low boost b/c I drive the car 200 miles every other if not every weekend and I don't trouble with tearing apart my motor and having it together before monday's class. I'd like to 5 psi w/o a boost controller. The screw on top of the WG is out quite a bit but it shouldn't make more than psi difference. The main problem at hand is still the vac line. I have used a cheap silicon line, but I might just buy an RRE silicon set.
