yeah, the VC1 is a thing that makes it so you don't get fuel cut under boost. it achieves this electronically, however, a lot of people have had issues with it burning out, failing, blah blah blah. i read all of this on the forms about a month ago right after i installed my turbo kit, and thought to myself "hey, if everyone is having problems with it i should get a missing link like everyone else." i installed mine, and got fuel cut only at 0 psi...? i didn't understand it. i took it off, blew it out to make sure the 1 way valve was working correctly, i even put a little wd-40 in it. (and yes, i remembered to take the VC1 out of the circut) still didn't solve the problem, so i put my VC1 back on while the missing link sits in my garage until i can figure out what's wrong with it. it seems to work fine, i can only blow through it in one direction, the direction from the "top" (MAP side) down. kinda confusing, but whatever. the VC1 works for me for now, even know it kinda sucks. anyways, i'm done.

Basically, a FCD is a "fuel cut defenser". Our stock map sensors cannot read boost properly, and if they do read boost, it will give a wayyy to high voltage reading at the map sensor, witch will cause the ECU to cut fuel to the engine. Our map sensors want to have around 4.5 volts at WOT, and at under boost conditions. So to achieve this maximum voltage of 4.5 volts, you either need to do this electronically (VC1, VC2, FCD), or with the "missing link" (its just a check valve that closes off any boost pressure to the map sensor, so the map just thinks its at WOT (around 0 vacum)). From what i have read, the check valve is the best way to go with the least amount of problems. If you are 96+ model year, then you will NEED one of these devices. If the map on the 96+ cars sees boost, it will cut fuel, which makes the car feel like its hitting a brick wall under boost. For some odd reason, several people can run without any form of FCD, how, i have no clue. Get one anyway to be safe. I have the missing link, and it works great. I tried to boost without any FCD, and it hit fuel cut..
