I have been tinking about my restrictive exhaust lately. I don't really want a big fart pipe. I would like to keep it a sleaper. I have been thinking about getting an electronic controlled cut out. I can just hit a switch and the cutout opens up, giving me a high flow exhaust. It will be loud but talk about mad flow at the flip a switch. What do you guys think? Anyone done this?

hey jay, let me know if you get it and all.. also how it works out. if its all good i might put my 'stock' gst muffler back and and insert this guy in.. is this located after the 2nd o2 sensor before the muffler? or does it go before the 2nd o2 sensor?... what would you guys recommend put my stock catback piping on and just put this in, or get 2.5in piping from the cat back to my stock gst muffler?...

Well you could put it before the cat if you are concerned about emisions. I will be replacing my cat with this unit. This way I will have normal driving mode and race mode.

If we get an exhaust it will cost $400+. This setup is only going to run a little more than $200. Plus It looks stock.

I just like the idea that it'll make my car look stock, and still provide the performance of any aftermarket exhaust system.

You still have a cat? If you're not concerned with emissions, just stick a test pipe in. Have you ever looked into a cat - it's just a big hunk of shit blocking the exhaust. Hell, if you're going to replace the cat with this valve, whats the difference between this and a test pipe? The muffler? The backpressure built up by a descent muffler is miniscule compared to a cat.

I had that same exact cutout that SANDMAN posted on an 81 Spirit. It seemed like a great alternative to switching out the pipe/cat every year for inspection. It worked great for a while, but eventually the valve started to leak. The best thing about it was pulling up to a light next to someone and opening that thing up. Damn I had alot of fun with "the valve". That Quick Time unit looks like it has a better seal, but it also looks like it doesn't divert everything(like mine used to). Anyway, just saying that I had problems with leakage on my exhaust valve.

Do your turbo a favor and save some ching at the same time - Get a test pipe.

I don't have a cat now, but the stock turbo exhaust just dosen't flow like I want it to. I am going to put this in place of my gutted cat.
