I may be totally off on the world, but I thought the AFC leans/richens up fuel by changing your MAP sensor voltages, am i right? Doesn't the defenser as included in our Hahn kits make the MAP sensor an absolute voltage??? Wouldn't that defeat the whole purpose. I've tried searching, somebody send me a link that explains this or explain it, or slap me in the face...er..something! I got my EGT installed and found out that i'm actually running lean at 11psi, and the AFC is going to be a necessity.

well I think the SAFC goes in series with the ECU no the MAP sensor. I don't think you need one of those defencer thingies if you have a SAFC but I could be wrong hehe...

You've got it semi-correct.
The only thing you're wrong on is that the FCD makes the map sensor an absolute voltage. That's not how it works. It just won't let any map sensor voltage over 4.7v through to the ECU. Get it?

i'm pretty sure that an AFC changes the mixture by altering the pulses of the MAP, and not the voltage. there was a post a while back where Bill said something about AFC's changing the impedience of the whole system (which i wouldn't be suprised if it threw it way off from stock, but if it really matters is beyond me) making the VC1's supposely act strange and possibly force people to buy a Missing Link. hahn's VC1 does something mysteious with the voltage, something that i never really understood. anyways, i'm done.

MAP sensors don't "pulse" ;-)

the FCD is a voltage clamp, it wont let the map voltage get over 4.79 volts or what ever it is, the s-afc changes the voltage a bit to fool the ECU into thinking there is more or less air than actual. when boosting your map tries to put out more than the 4.79 volts and causes problems, the missing link is a check valve that wont allow boost to hit the map sensor.

Yeah, thats cool and all but will the AFC actually work with the current setup i have?? Personally i thought the Defenser always kept it at a constant 4.7 volts regardless the condition. But i'm wrong. I just have to have one and i was wondernig what good it would do if it was a constant.

yes the S-afc will work just fine www.gruppe-s.com I think has them for 290 shipped, I just got mine
