I am going to put my egt probe in the manifold but I am contemplating where to put it. I know some have put it in the 4th runner and some have put it in the middle of the manifold. I think the middle underneath on the square flat part would be a good place that is out of view. Where do you guys have them placed? And Should I just drill the hole and tap it out then screw it in?

I placed mine on top of the 4th runner. The piping that goes from the turbo to the TB actually hides it. Stage 1 at least.........

I put mine in the 4th also, but if I had to do it over, i'd put it in the middle. The reason I say this is b/c one of your injectors could clog and you'd never know if it wasn't the 4th. Given that your temp difference wouldn't be as great b/c all four runner's temp will be averaged b/c they're all run together, but you should be able to see a problem still.

and, yes, drill and tap before you put the egt probe in.

i got mine in the middle. two other members ( i know of ) also got it in the middle.

yeah, i put mine a little off to the side on the 4th runner in order to be able to tap it a little easier (my tool that grabbed onto the tap was wide and it needed room to swing around), actually just did it this weekend. it works pretty well.

How about the middle underneath in the square section of the HRC manifold.

Mines an Autometer Pyrometer kit good stuff. I guess it's quick reacting cuz when I let off the throttle i see that thing drop :)
