31585, Turbo to downpipe gasket... Posted by Jasvb TS2K2, Sep-21-02 01:50 AM
First I noticed a bolt missing. Then last night and today it was sounding like a mustle car. When I look under the hood...all black and gasket is gone another bolt was about to fall off. Where can I get this type of gasket from; ASAP? More fuel to my fire...

If its ASAP, you gan get collector gaskets from autozone, 2 1/2'' ID, 3/8'' bolt holes, or you can call Hahn and they will ship it to you if you can wait.

So just ask for it like that? Will I have to cut it to shape and make the holes? Also how the hell do I take the bottom bolt off that crap is all into the pipe and I can't fit a wrench in there without having to take off the radiator, help!

downpipe botls are a bitch, that lower one can be taken out with an end wrench from under the car, but taking the fans out is a must, and radiator wouldnt hurt since its easy enough to get out.... your looking for the row that has colletor gaskets and shit made by accel... get the more expensive ones, they are black, the cheaper paper ones are off white... the ones you want are 4.99 for a pack of 2, you can use both of them back to back if you want, and this time use locktite on the bolts, i would go to home depot and get new automotive grade bolts, and lock washers... works good. check them now and then along with the manifold bolts, vac lines, etc... always a good thing to do cause a blown gasket is a hastle.

Embossed copper collector gaskets work well. I suggest a crows-foot wrench from Sears for that lower bolt/nut. Its a tiny open wrench head that fits on a 3/8" socket wrench. A 2" extension is needed too. With this, you can tighen that nut/bolt without removing anything.

Thanx guys I think you mean this tool. I'll check Autozone for the gasket. If that fails I'll order them from HRC. Later...

If you order if from hrc, the gasket is a 9125 i believe, if you get it from autozone, it'll be on the shelf somewhere, or ask a worker where the header gaskets are and that will get you right there, remember 2 1/2'' inner diameter, not 3'', getting the wrong size will sure piss you off when you get home :-)
