31144, Turbo/ Non Turbo Parts Issue... Posted by KougarZ28, Sep-14-02 12:57 AM
OK.. This may sound alittle stupid but I'm kinda confused.. I want to get a catback exhaust for my Eclipse and I was looking for a GReddy exhaust like the evo or sp or something. The question I had was.. They have the non-turbo model and the turbo model.. I DON'T have a turbo right now (I just have a RS).. but I will be buying a HRC Stage 2 kit as soon as possible.. If I get the turbo model and put it on my car right now considering it is a non turbo right now will that have any bad sideaffects or what is the difference between the turbo model and the non turbo models in general. Thanks.

The GST and GS/RS are the same and fit each other. Only difference is 1/2 " bigger for the GST since its turbo. THE GSX IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT BECAUSE OF THE AWD DRIVETRAIN!! Get the GST if your going turbo soon. You may lose some low end torque when NT but its ok.

I was wondering the exact same thing as Kougar while shopping around for an Apexi N1. Thanks :-)

So, if I get the GST exhaust all the fittings should bolt up to a RS the same as a GST?

With a 3 inch GST catback on a N/A car it will be kinda loud until you have the turbo and you will lose some low end while you are still N/A.

Don't worry about an exhaust yet. You will not gain any proformance from it. Well, maybe a few hp, but not worth it. I am using a stock turbo exhaust on my car. I am using a intercooled T3 turbo, running 12psi, with 8.8:1 Wiseco pistons and Eagle rods. I have a ported intake manifold and head, and I am just now looking to upgrade my exhaust.

You will be amazed how much a 3" full exhaust will help your spoolup characteristics. The more free-flowing your exhaust is on a turbo car, the better. Don't worry about losing "low end" when you are turbo. Once it spools up, hold on to something :)
