31020, To much boost? Posted by caliboy23, Sep-12-02 03:19 PM
I recently went to the track with a friend that has a 92 AWD Talon. He added race fuel and turned up the boost to 21 psi. Acording to the SAFC he was over flowing his MAS so the ECU reduced his timing which resulted in a much higher E.T than he was hoping for. (13.2) Apparently his stock MAS will only flow around 1660 KAR.
Utlimately he ended up scrapping the stock MAS for a TRE unit. His problems have since stopped and he's now in the 12,s.
I'm assuming that I don't have to worry about that happening to my car. (97 Eclipse GS with Star stage 2) If I'm wrong someone please correct me. If there any other complications similar to that, please let me know what they are, and what to watch out for.
Thanks guys.

you shouldn't be boosting more than 10psi without built internals, so no, you shouldn't have to worry about that

If you find a MAS under your hood, then you should start worrying... Yet another advantage we have over the 4g63, no MAS.
