30957, What is the biggest injectors our ECU can handle??? Posted by 96venger, Sep-12-02 04:28 AM
I want to know what is the largest injector our ecu can handle. Is it 310, 315, or 335?
I have heard that going with one of these my best bet would be to go with some ford 32lb. When getting these do I get them out of a mustang? or do I order just plain ole FORD 32ob or what?
I have some 440's but it is going to be a while before I can get a MSD so I want to get these for cheep for now, because my stockers are maxed out at like 5 psi.
How much boost could I run with the 310, or 315's 12 or 15 max???
Thanks

6billion cc injectors.

Sounds like a thread worthy of the search function.

On Murix's ECU didn't the fuel trims both max out at idle w/ 525's? If so then wouldn't that be the biggest?

Actually, after current findings, i think this is a good question. I jsut got done with the 315cc injector tuning on my car. Here are my findings, using the stock ECU, and a Vortech SFMU. I used a datalogger to monitor and tune my fuel trims. I'd say its a MUST to use a datalogger to tune with larger injectors. I started out with an idle fuel pressure on the 315's around 38 psi. I got a rich code CEL, and my fuel trims were through the roof, both short term and long term fuel trims. I kept lowering the idle fuel pressure(at around 17 hg's of vacum, to finally around 25 psi. With that idle fuel pressure, my short term fuel trims were anywhere from +6 to -6, when normal driving conditions. Long term fuel trims dropped from a constant -25% to aboiut -10 to -19. With long term fuel trims pegged at -25%, it will throw the DTC code too rich, bank 1. I was VERY leary of running that little fuel pressure at the injectors at idle, but it runs exclent, and no rich codes since. I have no idea how others can use bigger than 315cc injectors, and keep fuel trims low enough to not get any CEL, or keeping the long term and short term fuel trims below -25%. (not using a SAFC anyway)

>>>How much boost could I run with the 310, or 315's 12 or 15 max???<<<
Ok I've been doing some figuring and what I'm planning is 16psi w/ the 315's. Figuring about 300+HP I'll need ~90-95psi fuel pressure. At that pressure the Walbro 255HP flows 26GPH which is exactly what I need at that power level. So w/ a static of 33psi and the 2.72" disk I'll have 100psi fuel pressure and I should have enough fuel.

The reason I asked is because I have heard 310 and 315 but i was looking at HAHN's site and I saw some 335cc so I was wondering if those would work with an afc,...guess not. Thanks xtremeRS, you know where I was comming from.
Hey Matt are you going to run 16 psi without anykind of msd or timing control???? I guess not if you don't use an afc, I bet you would get more power if you fine tuned it with an afc and a dyno, But then again that is when you will need the timing control.
So where can you get some 315cc???? Ford? Ford what???

Matt,
What is your actual static pressure? When I get home next week I promise I will spend time with all my settings and give you full absolute impressionos of how the car runs and what the settings are everywhere etc. Should make for good data.

I guess you are asking me? Well, my idle pressure is at 25 psi @ 17 hg's of vacum. Static pressure is about 35 psi. At 10 psi boost, fuel pressure is around 73-75 psi, running .94 o2 voltage at WOT in 4th gear. These are my latest tuning numbers, and no CEL's, excellent fuel trim #'s. I have the 2.72" disk in the SFMU, using about 1 turn out on the bleed valve. The 2.4" disk was just a bit too lean at WOT.

Well I'm going to datalog it and start at like 8psi and keep going up. If my timing is too much then I'll turn it down. I'm hoping that I won't advance too much since I'm not using any fuel control.

What about using the AFX ECU with 310cc or bigger injectors?
