i was just wondering how mutch of a diff.it would be from just replacing the pistons with the same comp.can someone explain to me why its so mutch better?i now low comp with turbo is good but why is it so good?

Lower comp. will allow you to run more boost safer. I don't know all the ends and outs. Maybe someone can help us out here.

lower compression allows you to basically be more sloppy about the tuning of your car, with the low compression you have more room for error without the chance for detonation (motor kaboom). The higher the compression the better that car must be tuned to avoid blowing the motor, you want the 8.6 the higher comression will net you more HP at a lower boost level but the car must be tuned really well so you dont blow the motor.

for every 1 point in compression you gain approx 4% HP.

Thats basic enough to understand.

So if you run 8.6 comp and 10 pounds of boost
the guy with the 10.5 compression and 5 pounds of boost will prob. net more HP and beat you but if his fuel etc. isnt tuned correctly he will blow the engine where you are safer to make mistakes..

Quad, you really have to do just a little bit of searching before you ask some of your questions. I think I've PM'ed you about this before. I'll be quite honest and say that some of your questions are ultra-newbie.

I don't know, perhaps we should set up a "newbie's only section" or something. But I do recommend so you don't get this sort of back-lash, that you do exercise the search option once in a while. Mroeover, you really worry me if indeed you have just installed a turbo system. I'm not your mother or anything, and I'm not about to tell you how much information gathering you should do, but before I installed my turbo system, I had done some heavy, heavy individual reading, went out and bought maximum boost, and did even some more "searching" on Yahoo and other turbo-related sites.

Questions in the ultra-broad category such as "tell me how lower CR help your turbocharged app?" and "please list ever single step in installing your turbo fuel system" are really just innappropriate questions because they requires semi-treatises to answer them. Questions that require a short answer or reasonable amount of information are really more appropriate. Asking questions requiring such long drawn out responses gets people angry because it shows your either very, very lazy to do any individual research on your own, or that you are slightly off.

In any case, I wrote this here to help better steer you, and other really newbie posters, on the appropriate modus for asking questions here or really on any message board. And although Brynden was a tad harsh, most of us feel his pain. I just don't want other newbies who ask legitimate questions to be deterred from asking them through this ultra-sarcasm you've received here.

For once Jason and I are in complete agreement. (I am sure it will not happen again) ;) I was a bit harsh. But only because other members have tried to be more subtle with the "search" recommendations. The subtle requests have failed. And I, for one, and fed up with these types of posts. I apologize for being so harsh, but come on, these are the same questions that have been answered before.

Its almost as though you ask these dumb questions and bump them yourself to get a rise out of people. Well it is working. You are quickly becoming the least favorite member on the board. I just think that you need to really search before asking ANY question.

I notice that every month or so you post a dumb question that you have asked before, or that cannot be answered. IE:"look ant help me out what do you think?", "who would win its a tough one?", and "what would happen can someone tell me?"

All these posts are about fictional races. There is no way that anyone can tell you who is going to win a fictional race, its just a dumb post.

Sorry, I got off topic, please, please, please, please, stop asking these questions. I want to help newbies, I do, and I answer lots of newbie questions, but not in the turbo forum. I just assume that if you are posting in the turbo forum you must have a working knowledge of your car, but you are proving otherwise.
