3043, What can we do to ours heads? Posted by Greg, Mar-22-01 05:19 PM Valves, Valve springs, Retainers, Cams, Porting and Polishing? Am I missing anything? What Brands should I go with? What else can we do? I wanna prepair my head for 8,000+ rpm's :-)

Here's what is being done to my car's head right now: - Stainless Steel Undercut, oversize (1mm) Valves (CNNP) - Titanium retainers (CNNP) - Neon Racing Valve Springs (CNNP) - 3-Angle Valve Job - Port & Flow-Bench - Gasket matching & exhaust manifold matching - Polish - Waiting on Crane Turbo Cams - New 2001 Rocker Arms (very different..) - New 2001 Hydraulic Lifters Other things that you could probably do is Ceramic coating the exhaust ports... Can't think of much else... BTW all this started as an "innocent" attempt to just put in new pistons and rods and has now become a major engine re-design... Better be worth it... 3047, RE: What can we do to ours heads? Posted by Stan2gnt, Mar-23-01 03:27 PM Valve locks are small easy to loose pieces that fit near the top of the valve stem in the head (2 per valve). They must be removed to take the valves out. Probably dont need new ones but since he named everything else I threw that in. The new rockers have imporved strengh right where ours/neons are prone to break. These are 2.4L peice but have replaced the part number for ours to. The lifter is the same but with a hole at the top to allow oil to escape and prevent over pumping up. Just thought someone might be interested in knowing that.. I have never checked those on my '95. I guess it might some people some money if they decide to only upgrade rocker arms...
