30371, Autometer Boost Gauge? Posted by Creamo3, Sep-02-02 01:53 PM
When my car is not on, the gauge will sit at about 1-2 hg/mm vacuume. Could this throw off the gauge when I am boosting, and possibly cause me to boost more than the 8psi I am at right now. I am still on stock bottom end and don't really want to push it to hard just yet.

OK, but do you guys ever tap the gauge and have it go closer to zero. Mine will go closer to zero if I tap it a few times.

I reccomend getting the new electric boost gauge from autometer. it re-calibrates ti self at every startup from what I understand. Your gauge (like many others.......including my own) is probably off by a psi or so. it annoys me, and one of these days, I will get around to replacing it.

I know I find it annoying myself considering this gauge is practically new, and I don't feel like shelling out another 50bux to buy a new one. Oh well

i did not know autometer has a 'new' boost gauge? is it still in psi reading? i would hate to do the conversion all the time for greddy gauges... how much are we looking at for the 'new' boost gauge? .. does anyone have it or know if its really so good?

I checked summit racing and that new electronic boost guage is $190!!! That is nuts, but it looks pretty cool.

I dont think the boost gauges with senders show any vacuum or am I wrong...?
Nordskro (Intellitronix) has digital boost gauges too.

If you're brave, you can stick your pinky or a pencil or something in the light bulb hole, and bend the copper tubing (its bent in a spiral) until the gauge reads 0.
I sent mine back to HRC for a replacement, which I then sold, and bought a VDO that was much more responsive and cheaper. :)
