30174, in need of everyones help Posted by 98RS, Aug-29-02 11:52 AM
i've got a 98 rs with the star stage 2 turbo kit and i just did the howell bottom and top end rebuild. i got everything together and back in the car went to start it up and it just cranks and won't turn over. i went over everything, all sensors in, and all grounds ran. i checked to see if it was getting fuel and i have no injector pulse and i'm not getting any power to coil. i checked all the other sensors and they are getting power. the fuel pump is getting power and on. has anyone had this problem or might know the answer to my mystery. thanks for the help and space.

Check to make sure your fuel injector wire harness is plugged in. It should be on the driver side of the fuel rail area, kind of by the edge of the valve cover...This harness is the one that is wired to the fuel injectors, and plugs into the car's harness. You may have just forgot to plug it back in..

Also check the 2 relays on the driver side on the firewall near the top.

the injector harness is connected. do you men the two relays near the windshield washer resevoir? if so they are connected as well.

Well first, are you positive the injectors aren't pulsing? When you say no power to coil, you mean the injector coils, not the ignition coil? I would double check the cam angle sensor, and the crank postion sensor, just to be safe, those are the 2 main sensors needed by the ECU to fire the coil, and fire the injectors. Are the spark plugs getting spark? Double check all fuses in and out also..

By no pulse i mean that there is no power getting to the injectors the same applies to the coil. itested for voltage on the plugs for them and it isn't reading any power. when i check i for a grond it shows its grounded but not getting any power(if this makes sense). cold i just have the knock sensor plug in the cam angle and the cam angle sensor n the knock sensor?

well the knock sensor is on the back of the block, and the cam is by the valve cover, so i dont think thats possible. Just go over every single sensor plug you can find to be sure they are nice and tight..esp the crank position and cam angle..Double check the ECU ground too...could be a bad ECU, but thats very rare..

i scanned the ecu and it didn't give any codes. said that the ecu was fine and good to run. the connections are tight to each sensor. i pulled a spark plugwire off the coil and put my finger to it when crankig to see if it would shock me but it didn't. my aol im in eclipsejunior if you want to discuss it on aol.

I also installed my s-afc and avc-r at the same time, would this have aything to do with it not starting. not to sure just trying to think of things. i used the s-afc install procedure as given on the site.
