I can't remember who already did this but what modification did you have to make to the header to make it seal properly? Just use 2" bolts and a new gasket?

Nah man, if you want it to seal CORRECTLY you should go to RRE and buy the mitsu flange and have it welded to your stock manifold.

That would be the best way and the way I am/might do it.

What parts do you still need? I got pretty much everything but no time to install.

I just paid 480ish for insurance last month and I have another bill coming next month. After that I'm set for 6 months.

I'm planning on the 8 injector set-up. I figure why waste my money? So I'm still going to need a spare manifold and so on.

well i am working on a project with a 14b, within the next week i plan to make room for my car in the garage so i can start hooking up the turbo. i hope i wont have to have my car down for more than a week or two. i am definately a rookie at this so i'd appreciate any help during the project that i can get. hopefully we can all help each other out on our 14b custom adventures. i already have a custom exhaust manifold that bolts to my turbo nicely. i have a 1g intercooler. 315cc injectors. vortech sfmu. bov from star kit. a/f gauge. vacume hoses by the mile. i still need to get all my oil/water/fuel lines and a few other parts. i hope to get everything set up on the car and then just have it towed to the nearest decent muffler shop and have them weld in a complete downpipe section. then hopefully be able to start it up and drive it home. *cross your fingers!!!* ill keep you posted.

I'm doing mine because I figured-Why do I need a 16g for 8 pounds of boost? I would just have more lag. With a 14B I have instant boost up to 8psi.

Plus its cheaper ;)

Hey, why did you guys decide to go with a custom 14B set-up?

oh, are you guys going to have your coolant lines to your turbo or just run the oil line? I figured the cooler the turbo the better.

i chose the 14b for a custom turbo on my car because i thought it would be easy bwahahahaha. but uhm, now i think ill be going with the reasons he just said ^ :-). i wasnt aware that you could run our 14b's with just the oil line hooked up and still have it function correctly. if so i still dont think im going to be lazy, like you said, the cooler the better. im goign to go heat shield crazy with some cheap sheet metal and some sheers when it is all set up, thats forsure. id rather not have my hood bake way beyond a thousand degrees on a daily basis. just sounds scary. hm, although maybe that could be a good excuse for a carbon fiber hood...if those can handle the heat any better. :-) well anyways, my project isnt really comming along right this second. like i mentioned in another thread, i think it would be a good idea to just get a manual for both my car and a turbo 1g eclipse and then id have all the knowledge i need as far as what lines go where and all that. hopefully ill be able to find that tommarow, it would be nice if somewhere easy like barns n' noble or nappa auto carried those books i need.

Besides that and them mixing up the hp rating on the 420a and 4g63, and also not being able to find my FPR (I know it's on the fuel tank but the book doesn't show it anywhere) its a good manual.

Why don't You just use the stock heatshield? Just cut out were it would come in contact with the turbo. Thats what I'm going to try and do.
