30028, Fuel set-up (just checking)
Posted by Erik, Aug-28-02 05:50 AM
I have the Star I fuel set-up still. No problems with it, but I got 30lbs injectors and I really don't want to fool with the S-AFC that I have. So here's what I think I need.(still in college so bear w/ me)
I'm going to wind up selling the S-AFC and hopefully get enough out of it to get a good chunk of the S-FMU paid for. Then I need a fuel pressure gauge. I found an autometer one that reads to 100psi (part# 5712) but is outside mount. Is this commonly what most of you guys use? I'm on stock internals and want to run a daily 8lbs. with my 1g SMIC.
What disc do I need, what schrader fittings will I need for the gauge, and should I relocate the FMU and get braided fuel line to run it to where the 95's have it?

Don't sell the S-AFC. Use that bad boy to run the 30lb injectors.

I was going for the drivablity method. I hear things about poor start up and a rough idle with just changing the disc and a S-AFC. And since I'm broke, I'd like to almost trade one for the other and add a little here and there. I tried to fool w/ the S-AFC but I had no luck and never could get some good base settings. I also live in Kansas and not too many people have one on top of a RS-T. Actually I think I'm the only RS-T in Kansas. There might be one in Missouri though.

Where are you in Kansas? I'm about an hour away from Wichita. I have the 30lbs injector and am running the S-AFC and don't have any problem with starts or idling.

I live in Ark City, like 45 minutes to an hour south of Wichita. I have some suspension issues that I'm getting taken care of tomorrow. I'll go for the free gas. Email me at turbogs@cox.net and we'll work out a time that we can both get together. It'll have to be on a weekend since I work all week.

I'll mail you. This weekend would have been perfect, I'm broke and still moving back and forth from my college house and parents house in OP. I smell another KC 2gnt meet.

Alright, just let me know when a good time for you is and I'll see if I'll be able to. Most of my weekends are pretty open so just about any Saturday or Sunday is good for me. Do you have the injectors and S-AFC already installed? What about an air/fuel gauge and EGT gauge? If you already have all that in there, that would help getting it tuned and running right really easy. Since our cars might be a little different on the fuel, I'd feel pretty uncomfortable just giving you my fuel correction numbers off my AFC. There much street racing or 2gnt's or DSM's in Pittsburg? There is one guy that I know in Pittsburg that I can't stand. He drives a redish with grey '92 5.0 mustang. His name is Jeremiah. I don't know if you know him or not. But as long as that fool isn't around, coming up there to help you out would not be a problem for me. Like I said, just let me know and I'll do it for gas or whatever. Depends on how broke I am lol.

I do have the EGT and digital A/F (Corbin's gauge). I have the S-AFC and injectors but none of them installed. Wouldn't I need a calibration disc for the FMU? I'm a tech guy out here, but I went to some of my school in OP and transfered so I don't know a ton of people. I don't know any Jerimah's(sp) but I do have a couple 5.0 guys I know that are cool. I wouldn't say that there is alot of street racing here prob. b/c we have MOKAN dragstrip 20 min away. I can come up to OP if it's closer.

I'm still running the 12:1 disk that came with my FMU on my star kit. We can meet either in Pittsburg or in OP it doesn't matter to me. Which ever works better for you. I like driving to places that I have never been to before. If I get my car all done tomorrow I could possibly come up on Saturday if that would work. It all kind of depends on how tomorrow goes though. I'll keep you posted.

I'll be in OP this weekend and I'll be busy as hell. I'm not even sure I got the money to pay gas!!!! I might try the weekend following or maybe one after that. I got a nasty ignition miss now so I'm going to work on that and getting welding up a test pipe.

Alright, we'll do it whenever. I'm not all that concerned with the gas. I know how it is with money, I'm in college right now too. We can work something out. Maybe just some lunch or something. We'll see. You got my email so just let me know when you are ready.
