29821, Stage 2 turbo question Posted by freddy_00_69, Aug-25-02 02:36 AM
I got a boy where i live that has a 98 eclipse GS. Now i think he is stupid b/c he wants to swap out the motor for an evoIII 4G63 engine. That motor only has 280 crank HP(not WHP), he thinks he can get the motor and everything for $3500. I know for a fact the motor itself is $3000, without ecu, tranny, and other parts. I tell him getting a stage 2 turbo with new pistons, rings, and rods and FMIC will be cheaper then getting the whole engine swapped and will be able to run more horsepower than the EVOIII. Am i right with the stage 2 or is it better to get the EVOIII engine and pay almost five grand for only about 250 whp when the stage 2 for $3300 can get you more. Is he stupid or what?

i dont think anyone's ever been able to successfully do a 4G6 swap into a 420a.

thank you. It is alot of work and i know nobody that has put an eEVO engine in their eclipse, beeing that the EVO has the cam gears on the opposite side and their motor sits opposite the gs-t eclipse's. I guess he is not very smart and needs to do more research on his car b/c he obviously doesn't know anything about a 420A.
