29657, Need help broke axle (I think) Posted by JustOne, Aug-22-02 05:25 AM
I know this is the Turbo section but I figure more people that read this section regularly would know alittle better than the other forms.
I have a "click" that is coming from right in front of me (drivers side) tranny side. It clicks once when I put it into gear real loud in first less in second even less in third. It only happens if I give it enough gas to jump the car forward. I dont think it is the clutch because it grabs fine and doesnt make any noise at all when I have the clutch down. I only get a single click every time I go into a new gear. It and it only happens when I make the car jump forward. If i switch gears smoothly it drives normal. I will always get a single click out of first. The tranny doesn't sound different and it drives normal other than a single click.
Any ideas. I think it is a bearing in the CV. I dont know though. Again I put this in the turbo section because I figured more people over here have done stuff the axles, clutch and tranny because of the added power of the turbo.
Thanks Brian

I get the same thing. I hear a click when I get going sometimes, and sometime when I reverse. I am interested to see what people think.

I always seem to get the click in reverse.
I'm interested in knowing why as well. I've inspected my CV joints pretty closely and there isn't any sort of leaking at all. Moreover, I've had the recall done on them.

Sorry, actually the "lower lateral arm ball joints" had a recall. :-)

Ok I figured out my "click". It was the tranny motor mount rubber insert thing. You know the black rubber piece that goes on the sides of the motor mount. One of them was basically gone; I guess I get to order another part. Shit's starting to nickel and dime me to death.
Thanks Brian

I had the same thing you are talking about. For me it was a broken stabalizer link, broken bushings, and I had broken a few other tranny seals and such. Better have it checked out before any more boosting.
