I had my engine rebuilt and the mechanic just put it back together after a year. I have 8:1 je pistons, crower rods, crane cams and valve train, new valves, Aem adj cam gears, and a 3 angle valve job. Before the mechanic started it he did a compression test and got 0 compression on all 4 cyl. What could be the problem beside a shitty mechanic? any help would be appreciated. TIA

A broken compression tester is about the only thing that would give 0 compression... That or the timing is WAY off and during the compression strokes the intake/exhaust valves are still open. They couldn't be open a whole lot though without hitting the pistons. Have your mechanic check and make sure that the timing marks on the cam gears are lined up properly and that the crank is also lined up at the same time with the mark on the block. Those are my only 2 guesses.

Cams are probably off. I remember this happening before.

your cams are indexed 180* off. They won't hit the pistons, but they'll all open at the same time - no compression.

I know a guy with a turbo 1G that got 0 compression in one of his cylinders. He got 55 in another so his engine was obviously fucked, I didnt even know you could get 0 compression until that happened
