Just curious............I've always been using full synthetic 10W-30. My car has now a tad over 60K with about 6,000 turbo miles, so I decided to try that new Mobil SuperSyn 15W-50. It's hot as hell here in FL.

Yea man, now that I got boost, I change my oil around every 2000 miles now. You can never change your oil too many times........

I get hot in the summer so i use Valvaline Dura Blend 10-40w. Oh for all you Castrol users out there, I will get pictures and the results up on a web site from when my Physics class did thermal breakdown tests on non-syn and synthetic oils. Just a little peek from what you will see, sledge in the castrol synth before the normal Pensoil broke down. I can't think of the heat ranges, or what type of viscosity we were looking at off the top of my head. However, after I had used Castrol for about 5 years in all my engines, I changed to a different maker.

A couple friends of mine, one of them with a SR20DET swap in a 240, told me to not waste money in synthetic. You can use dino oils as long as you change it more often. I say with the extra heat and pressure that the engine is taking, every little bit of protection helps. Even if it means paying 30 bucks for an oil change and doing it yourself.

Just out of curiosity why are you guy's using the heavier weight oils? above 10w-30 I use the mobil 1 10w-30 with the green lid.

Simply because w/ the turbo oil gets broken down way faster cause o' the excessive heat.

10w30 mobile 1 synthetic, really tired of paying 30 bucks for a case of 6... I wish I could buy that shit by the drum! It says on the back thats its good for turbocharged engines... if it got hotter here I would use a heavier weight probably.

I'm 98% sure that it's ALL in my head, but it feels like the car is a tad slower with the heavier weight on (15W-50).

So since I'm in VA and it's like 100 degrees here. What weight would you guy's reccomend. Would you go higher than the 10w-30?

I use Amsoil 10W-30 Turbo Formula.
If it's hot where you are, the thicker 10W-40 will help, then just switch back to 5W-30 or 10W-30 in the winter (if you live in a cold state).
