How many of you use the two tach adapters, and how many of you use the recommended "Electronic trigger" box?

I'm curious because my car hesitates, "jerks" a lot under 4K rpm, and sometimes during cruising on the freeway. I believe this is an ignition issue, and I'm beginning to think the tach adapters (part #8910) that I'm using is causing it. I checked and changed spark plugs, plug wires, and the coil pack, and the "jerking" still persists.

When I get a chance, I will unhook my Crane and tach adapters to verify this, but I don't want to undo everything yet. Do any of you have any problems/issues with using those two tach adapters? Thanks!

I had the 2 tach adapters on for a while and then took them off. Seemed to make absolutely no difference in how the car ran.

I've had no probs so far w/ the Crane. Been using it for about 3 months.

you only need one tach adapter for the msd box, and the car will run without it, youll just get a check engine light.

Hmmm, I just can't figure out the "jerking" and "hesitation." I need to double-check the map sensor.

I am not sure about the ignition, but it may be the map sensor. I have the fcd that came with my kit and the car acts almost exactly the way you are describing. When I disconnected the fcd and drove without it, the car had no signs of this hesitation at all (until the computer got wise to the presence of boost 15 miles later). My missing link arrives tomorrow. I hope something like this is you problem and not with the ignition. Electrical problems make me want to pull my hair out x(

I'm with Justin on this one. Does the hesitation happen right around '0' psi? If I stomp on it and it goes quickly into boost I usually can't feel any problems. When I transistion slowly from vacuum to boost it hesistates badly. My Missing link will be here tomorrow also, so I have suspended any tuning until I can try it out. I'm hoping that it takes care of the problem. Stay tuned.

I am using the Crane in my car, Howell told me that I'd need 2 tach adapters, but I only put in one of them. Car runs fine with just one, didn't even try using both.....I as well think it's a MAP sensor problem with your car. Once I installed the Crane, it smoothed out my low-end, I think you have a bad connection somewhere.....let us know what happens.

so what advantages do you gain with a MSD ignition? That you've noticed? Increased mileage, power, sideeffects? Sounds like a future mod I know our ignition system are already the shiet but ya never know :)

Thanks for all the responses guys! Hopefully, I believe I may have solved part of my hesitation/stumble issue. Here's a short history:

I had a UDP installed; it probably wasn't mounted all the way in against the block. As a result, I guess the the alternator belt made a slight squeaky sound, which I thought was one reason why I didn't like the AF/X UDP. Also, all this time, I would get a low battery light when I have my headlight and A/C on, which is an indication of low battery/alternator voltage output.

Then, I had the stock crank pulley put back on. The hesitation still persisted. However, the pulley wasn't put on right. I guess it wasn't all the way in, so the misalignment still caused my low battery warning light to come on at a stop light or something.

Today, I had the shop that did the pulley install to redo it. Now that the pulley is installed correctly, the car runs smoother during acceleration, and during the vacuum to boost transition. Also, on the freeway when I'm cruising, I don't get the "jerking" every now and then like it used to do.

I did't get a chance to test my MAP sensor today, but I believe the stumping I experienced was caused from low battery voltage, which affected either the Accel DFI and/or the Crane ignition. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, of course. Hopefully, tomorrow, I will have time to test the MAP sensor to see if it's bad or not. Sorry for the long post.
