I'm ordering my stage 1 turbo kit from HRC in the next two days! I can't wait!
I was hoping I would be turbo by the time the shootout rolled around, and now I will be :D
I do need a compression test before I order though..

I will have the following in addition to what comes with the kit:

A/F ratio gauge
EGT gauge
triple A pillar gauge pod

Can anyone think of anything else I will need? (other than exhaust, etc)

also, what are the best gauges to get? Autometer? jumptronix?
thanks. I'm trying to keep the costs as close to two thousand dollars as possible, it will most likely end up being around $2400.

ok...after some searching I think I am going to go with the Jumptronix A/F meter. I will only need a dual a pillar pod then....

so that is the A/F for $85, the Dual pillar pod (tan) for $40.

Now for the EGT.... which do I go with? 1 channel or 2 channel? Autometer gauges range from 180-70 dollars for their EGT gauges...

anyone prefer one kind of egt over another?

Turbo timer and harness $100-150. RRE has Greddy's for $100 including harness, the cheapest I've seen with harness.

You'll in fact require a triple guage pod, if you decide to go with a blinky light A/f meter as well as a jumptronix. Or i you choose to add a oil pressure or temp guage later. I don't have a jumptronix yet, but I sure would like to have one. Anyways, I used to have a dual, but I later went with a triple. If I were you, I'd just get the triple and be done with it.

Oh yeah, I recommend the full A-pillar replacements. They look a lot better in my opinion.

Welcome to the Turbo ranks. From your previous post it looks like you are already getting well prepared for the install... I can guarantee you that a Stage 1 will be A LOT simpler than what you posted. What really killed me was the FMIC on my install....

I would really reccomend the Jumptronix A/F meter. It is simply
the most accurate meter out there. After having it in my car, I
would never trust anything else with blinky lights. Lets put it
this way... Lean is 0.89V, 'normal' is about 0.91V and rich is
0.95V.. Now would you trust a couple of flickering LEDs to tell
you that?

As for its price, a fellow member tried making one of his own and
he came up with a unit similarily priced. Jumper (maker of the
Jumptronix) really doesn't make a killing profit. The unit is
backlit (for night-time) and also tells you your battery &
electrical system voltage. It is tiny and fits just nicely over
your steering column.

As for an EGT gauge, I would reccomend this setup (pretty common 4G63 DSMer setup):

- Autometer 2-1/16" Ultra-Lite Single Channel Exhaust Gas Temperature Gauge (0°-1600°F) Part Number: 4365

- Westach EGT Sender (Clamp Type)
48" Type K Thermocouple; 2.5 Ohms Res., 0°-2100°F, 32.9mV @ 1500°F ; Part Number: 712-2DWK

You don't necessarily have to stick to the "ultra-lite" gauge color, but that's the typr of autometer gauge you need (i.e. xx65) For the EGT probe, I used a clamp-type mounted below the turbo, you can also get a tap type and mount it on the header...

The best deal I found for the probe, was from http://www.aircraftspruce.com its about $20. The autometer gauge you can get from www.carparts.com for a good price with a coupon from http://www.importhookup.com/

I would reccomend Autometer for gauges, however, their 3 pillar gauge pod stinks in my opinion. It does NOT replace your
A-Pillar, instead its supposed to completely cover it (pretty stupid if you ask me)! I would reccomend the Lo-Tek one (http://www.gaugepods.com/), my friend has it and it looks identical to the Autometer, just fits better in my opinion.
