There is no way this head can be just cleaned up. At this point, I hope they won't have to take MORE than 20 thousandths. Question is, what will my 8.8:1 compression be with 10,20,and 30 thousandths taken off?
The plug shrapnel definitely took out the head gasket though, I can see the marks outside the combustion chamber. :rolleyes

Can't you get the marks on your head filled by a welder , then grind em down flush, then have the head resurfaced to eliminate warping? They may have to bolt the head down to a brace while they do it to prevent warping also, but I would look into that.
B.T.W. I'll bet you that you had a warped head and thats what caused some or all of your problems.

My head was warped as well....he took 20 off of it....hope that won't give me more than 200-210 when I get done..stock compression on my rebuild.Of course I am only runningn 5psi.

Have it welded up, then planed flat. Not hard.
.060 is 1 point of compression if i remember correctly.. may be wrong.
