Of course this has to do with my overheating saga. Well, when it overheated today on me, I was parked idling. I brought the rpms up in neutral to 2K and held it there. The needle was about 3/4 of the way up, but after about 10 seconds of holding revs, it dropped down to normal :wary Does this situation spark any ideas....just thought I'd ask....thanks man.

When you bring the rpms up you are making the water pump spin faster and therfore making the water circulate faster. I've changed out my thermostat to a 160, changed out my rad. cap and flush and filled, two fans spinning and I STILL overheat...it just takes longer to. I only overheat like when outside temp go over 100 degrees. I'll probably reposition it when i get my bumper

Yes, sometimes that same thing happens sometimes to my old Subaru I just got for some reason. I've read a lot about it and it seems to match the same symptoms during low speed operation. There definitely seems to be something to do with the fan operation. That's the primary way your car keeps cool while it's not moving. It's strange that it doesn't overheat when your car's RPM's are up, but that may be because the fan is activated by the ECU when the RPM sensor sends a message to the ECU to activate the fans. However, due to another sensor possibly not sending a signal(or at least a correct signal) that would result in fan operation, the fan does not activate at idle.

When you overheat you might want to take a glance at the fan(s). Also, examine some of your wiring. If I remember correctly, sensors such as the coolant temperature sensor, A/C, and speed control sensors are some of the more obvious fan switch control sensors.

I may be totally off, but at least it's something to ponder.

My fans do come on when I'm stopped. I think it's either my water pump or my radiator, I've replaced everything else. The water pump was just changed 10K miles ago? Guess it still could have went.....I need to figure this out!

It's probably the radiator. If the waterpump is new, i doubt that is the culprit.

Try a Fluidine? ;-)

My temp did that also so I would floor or or at least give my car more gas and my temp would go back down. Solution was changing thermostat. Its cheap and easy to do so Id do that for starters. Good luck

I already changed it, but fuck it.....I'll just change it again. And Dino, looks like a Fluidyne will be coming. They are on backorder till the 16th of this month from RRE. That beast is going to fit in there alright with the turbo and shit right??? Thanks a bunch guys, this overheating problem has lead to nothing but confusion!

Just make sure you let RRE know that it is for a nonturbo - they can modify the inlet and outlet so that it will fit. Costs a little extra, but hey..

It is cheaper to get the Fluidyne and the modification done by RRE that to buy the turbo one from Summit and still have to have the relocation done. It is a tight fit, as it is over 2 times thicker than stock, but it fits fine, no probs in the past few years...

similar probw here. I cant drive more than 100 miles with out the radiator going emty on me. I even tried some of that liquid metal powder stuff in there ( i know i know , i was desperate and wanted to get home). it helps for a while then nothing. its bubles int the over fill tank when i get home. its so bad now that my fans has melted and hits the radiator... any one have something to cover the DP with? as for the radiator,.... it had cracked before on theone of the bottom pins/bosts, but i had it re-welded. yes i use a 50/50 mixture but its all adding up, any one have any suggestions?

Hey guys i've had problems with loosing a little coolant. I checked my pressure cap and found the little gasket thingy cracked all over. My guess is that while the engine was heating up those cracks were allowing the steam to escape. I never had a problem with overheating though, because apparently by the time it got to full temp, the gasket had expanded enough to seal the small cracks. Yesterday i replaced it with a replacement cap from knechts for like $7.00. I so want one of those Fluidyne Radiators, high pressure cap, Dual Fans, and higher temp themostat.

When i was changing my injectors, my fat ass sat on my hose and like knocked it out of place. i was leaking coolant for a day, and didn't know it. that sucked.

I'm sick of this damn overheating! On Friday, the Fluidyne will be ordered. I'm gonna be one pissed mofo if that doesn't fix the problem.....one pissed mofo with a tight radiator :) ! Thanks for all the help guys....
