Well i have gotten this code twice now. I have checked all lines, and everything is in check. What could be causing the code? Maybe a bad gas cap? Haha, how bout some help here. And no, i'm not going to remove the CEL bulb :)

Thats a pretty common code and the people that have it cant get rid of it. It doesnt do anything to your car though so dont worry about it. My CEL is on all the time. It just means that you have a lot of HP.

I also get the famous EVAP CEL. I have looked into this problem with some detail and have found that the EVAP system does not like positive manifold pressure. We could use a check valve or PCV type valve on the EVAP vacuum line to keep positive pressure out of the system. The solenoids that operate the system work off of vacuum and stay neutral at zero vacuum. I have also talked to a mitsu tech and was told that the most common leak comes from a rollover valve that is located on top of the gas tank. (you have to drop the tank to get to the valve) Apparently this valve can break very easily and cause a leak in the EVAP system by not allowing the vapors to reach the charcoal canistor. This mitsu tech I talked to says that he does this repair at least twice a week. Whenever you remove your gas cap you usually get a little suction noise as you begin to unscrew it. If this rollover valve is broken, you will not get this suction noise.

My CEL stays off most of the time. If I get on the highway for more than 1 hour, I get an EVAP code. As soon as I return to normal city type driving, the CEL goes off by itself. I dont plan on dropping my gas tank anytime soon and I dont plan on paying two hours of labor for a mechanic to do either. But I think I know that this is the problem and it is very common.

I have a question, if the ecu throws a code and the check engine light comes on, does the ecu go into a "safe mode" operation or does it continue to operate normally? Someone told me that some cars actually retard functions when the check engine light comes on. Anyone know if this is the case with the 2gnts. An example of a code would be like, an inefficient catalytic converter. Would this retard functions?

No it runs fine. Do you think all these guys with stage 3+ running 13's and 12's are in safe mode? LOL

Yeah, i'll look into that piece by the gas tank. So has anyone ever tried using a pcv valve on the EVAP vac line yet? Sounds like it would work to keep boost pressure from the EVAP system anyway.. A CEL light just bugs me, it shouldn't be on really, not if everything is in order. I'm too much of a perfectionist :)

I removed the evap system after getting that code. Could have fixed it and made it work... but who cares? lol... Just wasted space IMO. I get 10+ codes on my ecu when i datalog, none of them hinder my performance... wonder if Gary could also customize ecu's for us that wouldnt waste time processing codes for unneeded shit :-)
