I don't have much money know, so I am planning to get a boost guage from a junk yard car..
The thing is that I have no idea how to install it (actually I do have somewhat of an idea)...

Its supposed to be simple right?..

1.) Get tools
2.) Find mounting spot in the car
3.) Then find the boost sensor (right?)
4.) Then put the positive and negative where it should be (right?)
And then you are finished..

The problem is, where would I be able to find the boost sensor?
Is the boost sensor on the turbo?

Should I tap it from the fuel pressure solenoid (FPS)? If so, can you please help me located where it is?

Well we don't have a "boost sensor" but you hook a boost gauge to the intake manifold on one of the vac nipples.

BTW I don't think those stock gauges are too accurate. But I've only HEARD that. I don't really know first hand.

Where exactly did you hook yours up 420avenger?

Mine is hooked to the back of the intake manifold where the EGR vac line used to be.

Yeah, I know that the stock turbo guages aren't that accurate nor very responsive..

I am just having it so I can see if I actually have boost, and then when I have more money and experience, I'll get the REAL guages :thumbsup

And most stock guages don't have psi, just like color level like things, but some do have bars.

I wouldn't risk it. I'd just save up and buy a real boost guage.

How are you going to know how much your boosting?

The reason the guage is there is so you know your not going to blow your motor.

By bars and not psi (I can find guages with bars), if you would've read the comments above than you could've answered yourself :-)

Secondly, the turbo in stock is boosting at only 5 psi, so I wouldn't have to worry about my motor blowing up.

well....... the reason you have a gauge isn't for looks. it is to make sure you are boosting a certain amount. what happens if you wastegate fails and all of the sudden your boosting around 10-12 psi on a fuel system for 5psi?

get a real boost gauge or don't get one at all. i'm sure you can find a off brand on ebay for like 20 bucks

Also, get some silicone hose from your local auto store..if you can't find it there..a petstore sells silicone hose (not the clear plastic crap but the rubber green one) and what you'll need is:

1. T-tap (metal preferably, you can definately get that at a pet store in the aquarium section)
2. The boost gauge
3. Silicone hosing
4. Electrical wire
5. Some electrical tape or wire caps when you rewire under the fuse box so the boost gauge lights come on when your headlights are on..

You can find a cheap on on ebay or find a nice used one on thepartstrader.com

Some guy was selling a decent VDO Boost gauge for like 35 bucks and I bought it from him..it's good and does the job..the stock ones frome eclipses suck..I have mine still and it's crap..no numbers or anything..just goes up and down and it's not accurate at all..
