28490, Possibly blown piston/rings/etc.

As you all know, I recently had new rings installed (courtesy of Mr. Lima) and I put on my HRC Stage 1 turbo. Today things got REALLY wierd. One, she started to idle REALLY badly. Not really at idle, but when I go to accelerate, she sounds like a VW Beetle or a lawnmower. I then looked under my hood and I've got oil ALL OVER my intake charge tube. I've got just a filter on my breather on the valve cover and it appears to be steam/smoke coming from it. I popped off the oil filler cap and there's a LOT of smoke/steam coming out. I have a bad feeling I blew a piston. Once I get moving, she'll run decently. I'll boost up to 5psi and she'll pull, not as hard as before, but still decently. Any ideas? If I blew a piston, I'm thinking of just selling the car, swallow my losses, and buy something else. I'm getting VERY frustrated and I don't have the $$ for a rebuild at the moment. Any ideas? I also pulled the spark plug wires to see if any oil got down there....none, dry as can be. I'm scared to pull the plugs and do a compression check for fear that I've lost a piston, or 2. :-(

Only way to tell is to do a compresion test. If your lucky you might have just blown the head gasket.

The head gasket is brand new, it's the MLS gasket too. Would that cause it to sound like a lawn mower (ya know, the popping sound) when first starting out and shooting oil all out of the breather filter? My EGT's and fuel readings are right on the $$$ still though.

like dave said, do a compression check see whats going on.. also do a wet compression test if you got a certain # low.

Sounds like a piston to me.

If you cracked one at 5psi, you had a serious tuning issue that should have been worked out.

how recently were the rings done? don't they need time to seat before they see boost?

I let the rings set in for ~1000 miles. I think my tuning is right on, except for 3rd gear. In 4th, I'll floor it and she'll get up to like 1550 @ like 5500-6000 rpm and just hold there. In 5th when I'm cruising at 75-85 she'll be like at 1350, right on the money. If I do, which I suspect, have to rebuild, I'm gonna need/get some forged pistons and rods. Anyone got some leads on some CHEAP p
