always draining my bank account. The pistons in my car are custom. can't buy just one, and it's 4-5 week lead time. I could buy just one 8.5:1 or 8.8:1 but it won't get along very well with my 9.5:1's in the other holes. So if I need a piston, I guess I'll be buying a set of 4 8.8:1 so I can get 'em next week. God I hope it's just a head gasket...

BTW, some food for thought. 9.5:1 pistons + 18psi boost = 21:1 effective compression ratio. No wonder I keep blowing stuff up. :rolleyes

Can't JE make you one? You might try and call them (if you havent already) and see if they can help.

So, three of the four DFI guys are down:

You w/ internal problems
Brad w/ tranny issues
Me w/ o2 issues, but car still runs (for now)
Kon running fine to the best of my knowledge

It's crazy to see the problems you run into at high boost levels. I don't feel too bad though because all the higher HP 4g63 guys I know run into the same amount of trouble as me, mabey more.

Thanks Brian, but I still have a few stockers of my own... Let's review the facts:

Cylinder 2 90 psi compression cold - 120 with oil - 125 hot

Plug demolished from detonation? No insulator left and half of the side electrode gone.

NO blowby (rings ok?)

Idles a little shakey cold, then idles fine and runs fine (perfect)

Idle does hang at around 2000 rpms and slowly drifts down to 1000 cold or warm

No water out of the tailpipe and no smoke

No oil in coolant or vice versa

Overheats BADLY after driving on the freeway, sometimes...

Anyone want to start a pool on this one?? I'll post in the morning what I find out tonight. JE only sells custom pistons in sets of 4 and it's a 4-5 week wait.

I have had shitty zex spark plugs break the ceramic off... probably detonation, but the engine is fine.... just hope you blew the headgasket is all i can say, or then your in the big money once again... I broke a spark plug all up one time and it all fell in the cylinder..what a bitch that was... keep us posted for sure greg. Just get a set of 8.5:1's and be done with it.... you'll have more room for error.

p.s. my transmogrification is almost complete, so you will be able to take me off the broken list soon guys... i hope ;-)
