28249, My rebuild options (compression, price, machine work, etc.) Posted by dougie2, Aug-05-02 12:57 PM
My engine seized up so I'm rebuilding for a turbo application.
option #1: ($2300.00) Local speed shop completely rebuilds my shortblock. JE Pistons, JE Rings, Eagle HP Rods, Rod & Main Bearings Bore/honing, balance, blueprinted, crank work, galleys & plugs, deck, burn/blast, magnaflux, disassembly & assembly.
option #2: ($2300.00) HOWELL Crate Motor Short Block 2.0 Liter (I'm not interested in 2.2). JE Pistons, Total Seal Rings, Eagle Specialty Rods, Clevite 77 Bearings, Mopar gaskets and Seals, Melling Oil Pump, Seasoned Block Bore/honing, balanced, blue printed.
As for compression... 8.6 or 9.6 (8.6 w/ thin head gasket to raise compression a point)?
What do you guys think? I'm anticipating 15-25psi.
