If I get the Apexi turbo timer is that good enough for a air fuel gauge or would I want to buy the actual gauge. If I do need the actual gauge, can you explain why? The turbo timer is just for convinience right? It's just the same as sitting in your car for a few minutes? I will also need a EGT gauge. Besides possibly a A/F gauge and EGT gauge... what else?

Secondly, how do I read the A/F and EGT gauges. What are the max and min numbers on each and what do they represent? And what levels are safe? If there's a link/website that I can read up on these gauges I would appreciate it. I want to know everything I can before I go turbo. Thanks in advance.

The turbo timer is up to you to get, i just sit in the car for a few. EGT and A/F gauges are a must with a turbo IMO. On an EGT gauge, anything over 1650 degrees is bad, very bad. Try and keep EGT's below or around 1550, no higher really than 1600 for safety. For an A/F gauge, the best ones are digital that shows a voltage in numbers. Max power and best egt temps, you want to be around .93-.95 volts on the gauge, at wide open throttle. I have Autometer's gauges, and i am pleased with them. I am wishing i had gotten the digital numeric A/F gauge instead of the blinky light one, its much more accurate to tune with.

Ok, easy enough. And of course I would need an S-AFC to tune it to be around that voltage and under 1600 on the EGT at WOT, right?

good thing man i though that 1450 was bad so i gues if it goes to 1600 is good. But now how will i knwo if it goes more than 1650 gague only shows 1600 at tops.

check it out dude, the turbo timer with a/f gauge built in is cool but if your going to start tuning your fuel system with a super -afc your going to need a digital a/f gauge that tell your the exact # (corbins a/f gauge).. also it goes from lean (bad) to rich (good) to a certain point... and a egt at idle warm should be around 800 degrees and max is 1600 revin and racing .. a good point would be 1550 max when built/tuned etc.. i would say do a search on turbo etc and you will be reading for hours...hope this helps also...

Yes Egt and digital a/f. I am going to get corbins a/f guage but he just moved and i am giving him time to get settled before he makes me one. There is also the jumptronix one that is digital but it is on backorder i think for like 2 months. Of course you want a boost guage and I have heard an oil pressure and fuel pressure guages are good to have too.

The A'PEXi turbo timer does readout numerically. I had one once, but sold it and bought a greddy one. It is nice to have boost gauge, too. I like having one that reads vacuum and boost. It helps diagnose problems, too. I have a digital AFR gauge from gadgetseller.com, but the timer should be fine. It's nice to be able to save a few $$ here and there, too. As far as EGT and boost gauges, i REALLY reccomend the ones made by greddy. I paid $165 for the EGT from either optauto.com or roadraceengineering.com and paid $150 for my electronic boost gauge.

Where can I get the digital A/f guage?

I got mine from gadgetseller.com. I think it was aroung $95. They have it in alot of different colors, too. It was shipped very quickly. I received it 2-3 days after I ordered it.

When you talk about the EGT readings, are you guys talking in degrees fahrenheit or in celsius? I was looking at the greddy electronic one on roadraceengineering.com site. Is that good? How about the autometers optauto's site? And I'll need the thin got hold all the gauges, I guess you call it the gauge pillar?

I want the boost gauge that comes with HRC kit to be the same size as the EGT gauge so that I can put them on a pillar? What is the size of the HRC boost gauge so I can match the EGT.

where can I buy the pillar that fits these.

And lastly, what color is the HRC boost gauge so I can do't an EGT of a completely different color.

I don't know about the size or color of the hrc boost gauge, but yes, the greddy EGT reads in C*. Earlier in this thread people were referring to a gauge that reads out in F*. If the gauge reads in C*, 900* is about as high as you ever want to go. 900*c ~1600*F. The greddy also has an illuminated redline at 900*. It is nice because you don't have to zero in on the actual #s when you're driving. Options also has pillar pods.
