27820, question on ner staged kits...... Posted by BuckNutty, Jul-30-02 03:35 AM
i am currently kit shopping and am at a crossroads with what to get....I would like a ball bearing turbo for better spooling and life of turbo...looking at stage 1f....now do they let you upgrade the kits after you have it.....ie get that stage 1 kit and upgrade to the fmic afterwards?? I don't have the money for a full fledged upgrade right now, so i am looking at the best for the money. Planning on doin the basic tune ups, new belts and pumps, clean the car up all around. I plan on saving for the stroked low compression short block from howell as my next upgrade. lmkwyhoa n whatnot :thumbsup

Have you emailed Shaun @ NER yet? If so, how long since... Poor service now may be an issue to worry about later, even if you can save a hundred or so bucks. Email HRC and see what they say as well...

Yes you can upgrade later, ie. intercooler and diff wastegate spring. I recently paid my kit off and I plan on upgrading in the future like you are talking about. As for service Shaun has been there for me with my kit and I am greatly appreciative of that.

Yeah shaun's service is excellent. Dont listen to all these people badmouthing him. All of these people are outsiders looking in. If you ask any of the guys in on the groupbuy you will know that he is doing a great job.

you can upgrade thru the stages. why is everyone bashn on ner?? he is getting ready to make alot happen, for me and others. shaun is willing to go the extra mile and help fellow 2gnt members. go ask the other companies if they are willing to do so. everyone will hate, but im not mad, just because you paid too much. keep an eye out for what we have to come. the truth is out there :)

if you just want boost and something cheap go with a ner basic kit, and upgrade later... ball bearing will spool up quicker then a normal t3/4b but you might have to pay a bit more... i know shawn is doing a good job, its hard to run a shop etc.. but if your not so so informed with turbos do a search on all, ner, star, hrc see which one you trust, and have the price for.. remember each kit has a downfall ..

From what i see the ner kits are for me. They have alot of different options and the design of everything he has shown us is sound and impressive. Although i am no guru on turbo's i do know a bit about them. I emailed him a few days ago and have heard nuthin. No big deal i have run a business and know how it is :rolleyes. I am thinkin then that i shall get the basic basic kit and base my upgrades on my wallet. I am starting ot save for the howell stroked crate engine and am then going to throw a kit on there. Evilness is afoot ;)

Straight up NER group! Shaun has a group page up for us guys participating in the group buy so were very well informed and eventhough I may seem biased because of the group buy Im very impressed with the service so far, Everyone in the group seems satisfied thus far. I personally think he has responded very timely to questions asked on the page but by all means do some research on what you want, if NER is for you keep trying and you'll get him eventually, then ask him for the address to the page that way you will have quicker access.

27831, Still need posted picture of a full running kit. ( a website that included pics would be even better Posted by JasonESi_T, Jul-31-02 02:05 PM
I don't want to be negative about anything. I've seen the manifold, and I've seen the specs in regard to what's the planned setup, but what I haven't seen yet, or really even have heard confirmed about, is a full running kit that boosts on a 420a. HRC and STAR had full kits on cars before they started selling their kits to the general public that included LOTS of pictures and details.
It's my own humble opinion that I offer to others to wait and "see" this kit before investing any hard earned money into an unseen product. Better to be prudent and cautious with your hard earned cash before investing it into an unseen and unheard of kit. (I hope none of you would start paying me or anyone else a lot of money for a supercharger kit, if I produced a picture of a supercharger)
All that being said, I really do hope that this kit materializes and turns out to be a fantastic success.

i agree with jason i wish i was so nice like how he explained it, i remember thoses days.. i remember with the star kit ( so i heard ) some guy went to a 2gnt meeting in so cal ( back in the day) and all of a sudden some car was doing the bov ( the 1st or one of the 1st star owners).. and it was a 2gnt with the well known star kit now, i forgot the guys name, but as far as i know no one has talked/seen him since...

im new and looking into a turbo for my car, but for sure i would not buy a kit or turbo i have never seen on a car.. i have done some research on star and hrc, and ner is new to me but its a star turbo, with a combo from hrc and star? correct me if im wrong?... guess i got to lookin more into this ner kit if i come to a 420a with it on it.. ttl

I really don't see any down sides to the NER kit. Its basically the Star kit with better parts. I have the pics as well for the Manifold and I know they have been posted on here too.
The manifold is well designed, 3" DP, and the rest is bascially the Star kit. The biggest problem with the star kit was DP not having a flex section, if I remember correctly. Well NER fixed that.
So for me, I know how the Star kit performs, I know I wanted the Garret turbo, and I got it all at a great price. Its the only reason I felt comfortable with ordering the kit without seeing numbers....thats just my logic though.
