Well, I just filled it up yesterday with 92oct from almost to E, and after it was done I got back in my car and went to reset my OD and it said "177" OH... MY... GOD!!! I usually got at least 280 miles on a tank, or around there before I had my turbo, and this is the first time I noticed it this low? I did have a couple of quick starts, but thats ridiculous!!! thats like half the gas milage I use to get. I have it at 5psi and have the fuel pump and regulater my stage II came with. Why am I getting such sucky gas milage?!

...I see on my car 350 every tank and with serious constant hard driving at 280 miles, but I do a lot of freeway driving. With the turbo your mileage should improve on the freeway but high octane gas contains less energy than lower octane so if you gun it all the time you could seriously lose mpg. I would also say to check you fuel supply

I don't have a fuel leak or anything...I am running really rich though... my modified A/F reads .96+ at full throttle, so I think that has something to do with it... I'll see what this next tank gives me. Thanks

There you go that might do the trick. I may stand corrected but we are supposed to be at .91 at full throttle

Is there that big of a difference between .91 and .96? I mean, thats only a .05 difference. And could I fix that with the fuel pump or regulator that came with my kit? I don't think its adj. though, does that matter?

my gas mileage sucks too..but when you turbo a car, you should expect it. you force more air into the motor, therefore, you dump more fuel into the motor to maintain a 14.7:1 stoichiometric ratio. In order to make more power, more fuel must be used. It's as simple as that.

how do you figure mileage will improve just cruising around? I don't understand this statement? I know that as soon as you hit boost, the gas mileage starts to go down...i don't know about you, but even just cruising around, my needle goes above 0 quite a bit.

Sucks to be y'all. I still get like-stock gas milage. I got 320 Miles out of my last tank, and hit 14.1g when i filled it back up. My freeway milage has actually improved a bit, i can still go from Houston to Baton Rouge (281 miles) and end up with 3/8 on my gauge. Of course, my around-town sucks... But between my 20 miles-one-way commute to work and the hours i work, i almost never have the chance to do any short trip driving...

well since we're on the gas topic. Is everyone's gas gauge really off? Reson I ask is I can run the gauge down till its dead E yet my car will only take down 12-12.5gals before
it's full again. I belive our tanks are 16gals. So that leaves about 3.5-4gals the gauge doesn't even read. Anyone else's like this??

It says in my owner's manual that the warning light comes on (solid, i'm guessing, not flickering on and off like they do) when there are 2.1 gallons of gas left. So it is feasible, likely, even, that when it first starts to flicker on that there is about 3.5-4 gallons left. Think of it as a blessing: Middle of nowhere, 2am, gas light starts coming on, you can still drive 60-80 miles :-)

While you are cruising, boost should be at or below 0 psi. Since boost is at/below 0psi, it'll be like stock (the fuel pressure remains stock so same amount of fuel is being dumped into the engine like normal).

So I figure with the addition of the turbo, during cruising, we are getting a bit more air into the engine than stock, and since our cars run a bit rich, the extra air helps...

I actually got increased gas mileage...but then again I haven't driven like raving madman yet!

'95 and '96 are 15.9 Gallons and '97-'99 are 16.9 Gallons. I have 3 gallons "under" my gauge

It is as simple as this:
Boost is more effiecient that atmosphere(or compression). Our cars volumetric efficiency (VE) is about 86%. Using the turbo achieves a 100%-200% VE (1,2PSI - 10psi on a stage 2) means that our Cylinders are getting complete cumbustion chamber fill(100%) instead of 86%. Along with our pentroof chambers we can burn fuel better. And when you're cruzing around town with our rich running engines at part throttle you are getting about 1 or 2 psi with the FMU not adding too much fuel. By this we get near stock fuel into our engine at only a few psi and 100%+ chamber fill, thus, allowing better gas mileage and (the best part) more HP.

So what does it mean when I drive and the boost needle is still in the vaccume section of the boost gauge? Am I getting better gas milage then when it hits 0? Cause if I don't accelerate fast, the needle never gets to the 0 on the boost gauge. Is that good or bad?

IF you are in vacuum, you are out of boost and not providing extra fuel. Now, on gas mileage, driving style can really dictate how many mpg you get as well as where you drive. I actually average between 280-320 regularly and I have a heavy foot. The worst I have done is maybe 250. Running rich can of course cause a problem as well. You sound like you have a problem with that low of mileage.

first off, i dont have a turbo... but i get 400 miles out of a full tank and my gas light has NEVER come on. most ive ever got was 416 miles...im gonna run it till the gas light comes on, to see how much i get. usually when i fill up, the needle is just above the last line.
