27661, turbo kit question Posted by stoyboycs, Jul-28-02 04:19 PM
Hey all. I was just wondering would it be cheaper to buy a turbo kit for my non-turbo eclipse or to put a custom one together? If cheaper to buy a kit what kits are out there? If cheaper to put one together what would i need?

If you are fully aware with what is all involved in a turbo kit for our cars then you can save some money by doing a custom setup, but you'd better be a patient person to do this because it will take you some time and a lot of headachs and band-aids. Most people suggest going with aftermarket kits since it is worth the extra 500-700 bux for the ease of install and warrenty/tech-support.
Go to http://www.hahnracecraft.com/auto/eclipse/eclipse.htm and http://www.turbogs.com/products/eclipse&talon.htm and www.newedgeracing.com to see the different turbo kits available for our cars.

Somethings to consider:
1) A custom kti could come out cheaper 2) A custom kit may be cheaper but it will probably be a pain in the ass to find all the parts. 3) With a custom kit I would imagine you would need to do all the labor yourself. 4) It's more convinient to buy the kit w/ instructions, etc... 5) A premade kit (HRC, Star) will help you make sure you don't overboost and with a custom you need to know what you're doing with everypart.
I say just look for a good deal on a premade kit:
www.turbogs.com -------------> Star Kit (only goes up to stage 2)
WWW.hahnracecraft.com -------> Hahn Kit (goes all the way up to stage 5)
AHHH you beat me to replying. Oh yeah check out the new kit from New Edge Racing too.
